@teorourke you need to go through Step 3 of the BP Compatibility process i.e., change/adjust the HTML structure of the BP template files transferred to your theme’s folder to the HTML structure of your WP Swagger theme.
If you need assistance, open up your swagger theme’s header.php, copy all, paste at pastebin.com, click submit and post the generated URI here. Do the same for your theme’s index.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php files.
In reply to: Logged in users creating new sites== since we have a membership functionality set in place. Unfortunately, only the admin is able to create a new site and no one else ==
@marisaj85 If you set WP Multisite installation in Network Admin > Settings – Allow New Registrations – with “Both sites and user accounts may be registered”, then your members will be able to create new blogs. It might just be your “membership functionality” which is interfering with the new blog/subsite creation. Contact the developer who made that “membership functionality” to resolve this issue.
In reply to: Fatal Error – New BuddyPress install@bxdavi2 No, BP 1.5.5 runs on WP 3.3.1. The last BP version compatible with WPMU 2.9.2 is BP 1.2.3 see https://codex.buddypress.org/releases/
@jcaynes == have issues with my site being closed somehow. ==
Check dashboard menu Settings > General – Membership – Anyone can Register? –> set it to Yes. If is set on Yes. Click on Save again.
Check dashboard menu Settings > Privacy settings – Site Visibility –> Set it to default where the site is open to everyone. Even on default setting, click on Save.
@gospelcast this topic has been marked as resolved. Please start a new topic for your issue. Include the info you posted above as well as: WP/BP versions, Linux or Windows hosting; single WP or WP multisite installation; theme used, and whether you went to Settings > Permalinks and set it to other than default and saved; etc.
@mrlobaloba Please do not post admin login in these forums. That username and password have been compromised and I deleted it from your posts in this thread. I recommend that you delete that user in your installation now.
It might just be a theme issue. Change theme of http://lavori.italianproplayers.com/ to bp-default theme and check if issue is corrected. If not, deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress.
In reply to: Image Upload with post@gajananh999 Media uploads via Activity Updates:
1. BuddyPress Activity Plus – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-activity-plus/screenshots/ free
2. There’s also the premium BP Gallery plugin http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-gallery/ which also includes uploading images, audio and/or video in status updates forms in Activity Directory, Member’s activity page, and Group’s activity page.
@mrlobaloba you’ve translated “Groups” and “Members” to Italian (?), so why not create a page named “Attivitia” and then go to dashboard menu BuddyPress > Pages and associate that new “Attivitia” page with the Activity Page, then Save.
In reply to: [Resolved] ”All members” tab leads to site home page@kantibit Great. Thanks for posting the plugin issue in your installation.
In reply to: [Resolved] ”All members” tab leads to site home page@kantibit looks like you have resolved the issue.
In reply to: [Resolved] Disable Nested Commenting?@qrahaman I understand what you mean, I’ve seen it happen. Adding the style above will resolve the nesting even to the 16th reply-reply, all of which will go flat to the the left.
In reply to: Want to change the word ‘friends’ to something elseChange slug of Friends – create a new Page named, e.g. Amigos, and the new URL will be http://yoursite.com/members/pauljr670/amigos/ instead of http://yoursite.com/members/pauljr670/friends/
Use language translation file to change all instances of friends in theme https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/
In reply to: [Resolved] Disable Nested Commenting?@qrahaman The following will flatten the comment replies. See testbp.org/activity where I added five replies to the comment of serenapumipi
Add to child theme’s stylesheet
`div.activity-comments ul li > ul {
margin-left: 0;
padding-left: 0;
}`In reply to: navigation doesn’t work in IE7@jaredvd please clarify, main navigation here in buddypress.org or testbp.org or with bp-default theme?
In reply to: [Resolved] Disable Nested Commenting?@qrahaman nested comments in blog posts or activity stream? The nesting for both is done via CSS only for bp-default theme and most other themes.
@o4tuna Re: Themes and BP – Ways to have a BuddyPress-compatible theme
1. Create a child theme of bp-default theme – https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
2. Make your regular WP theme compatible with BP via BP Template Pack Plugin – https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/ – includes list of “Template-Packed” WP themes in latter part of the page
3. Install a WP theme with explicit BuddyPress-support e.g. Elbee Elgee – https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/elbee-elgee – this theme already includes BP template files
4. Plugin purchase – Premium themes more often require purchase of a plugin so you could use their themes with BuddyPress – e.g. Genesis, Pagelines, etc.
RE: Do the regular WP plugins still work with BP?
In general, yes. BuddyPress is also a WP plugin. There are rare conflicts with AJAX, JS, etc.
In reply to: [Resolved] Is BuddyPress suitable for this purpose?@nivanc Just to start off, you will need to
1. Install WordPress
2. Create a Network of your WP installation
a) subdirectory structure – http://www.domain.com/subsite1; http://www.domain.com/subsite2; http://www.domain.com/subsite3, etc.
OR
b) subdomain structure – http://subsite1.domain.com; http://subsite2.domain.com; http://subsite3.domain.com, etc.3. Install/activate BuddyPress plugin
4. Make your BuddyPress “multisite” (separate instances of BP in one WP installation)
a. BP Multi-Network plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-multi-network/
OR
b. BuddyPress Multi-Network plugin http://buddydev.com/plugins/buddypress-multi-network/5. s2membership plugin – Free or Pro version
Then install other plugins to improve user experience in the different BP installations in WP subsites.
@mammothIdeas you’re welcome. Glad you were able to resolve it

@jcaynes If you followed plugin instructions per plugin page, you would have created another folder and file like so
/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-private-community-config/mm-buddypress-private-community-config.php
Delete that as well@indieconnect the layout is working in my clean installation of atahualpa without using any configuration in theme options except for the CSS addition because adding style modifications in theme stylesheet does not change anything.
Did you copy everything I posted in pastebin.com and not just added the few at the bottom of header-buddypress.php or footer-buddypress.php for example? I ask because I’m seeing that your page source code has not changed to how it should be had you used the code I gave you. Know that these two files only affect the BP template pages and not your regular WP pages.
In reply to: Fatal Error – New BuddyPress installIt’s a Gratitude theme issue, contact theme author. Change to bp-default theme in the meantime..
@@rmandersen no, there’s no plugin like what you want at this time. There was someone who mentioned he would be releasing one sometime ago, but it didn’t pan out.
In reply to: [Resolved] how move the sidebar to rightSite URI so we can troubleshoot and adjust?
@chr313 no problem with periods or ellipsis [ … ] at end of Title of Group Forum Topic at all. Have you tried deactivating plugins or changing to bp-default theme to check if issue is corrected.
@jcaynes this plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-private-community/ has not been updated for BP 1.5+. Delete it from your installation.
