In reply to: BP Template Pack installation error
#1) Yes, you would need to associate/create BP components with Pages. See https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/setting-up-a-new-installation/ and link to Installation Wizard
#2) You only need to install BP Template Pack to make your WordPress theme compatible with BuddyPress.
If you’re using bp-default theme OR child theme of BP Template Pack OR an explicitly stated BuddyPress theme, you need to deactivate BP Template Pack plugin.
In reply to: buddypress page not showingThis is not a BuddyPress issue. What happened is that you changed Site URL instead of the Site Title. See https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL
To resolve this issue, please post at WordPress forums https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting
In reply to: Theme Files – Sub Page As BlogIn reply to: [resolved] how do I create a bp-custom.php file?Open up your text editor, e.g. notepad or textmate, add the code then Save As > bp-custom.php
e.g.
`<?php//the code here
?>`
After it’s saved, upload to server in wp-content/plugins/ folder
I know the “Reply” button, but what “Quote” and “Complaint” buttons do you want? Something is getting lost in translation somewhere. Could you be more specific?
BuddyPress/WordPress versions?
What theme are you using?
What plugins do you have installed?
In what pages are the quotes and complaint buttons supposed to be seen?Marking this as resolved and closing the topic

B. At the bottom of each file, replace
`
`
with the following (except for registration/register.php file);
`
<?php
thematic_belowpost();
// calling the widget area ‘page-bottom’
get_sidebar(‘page-bottom’);
?>
<?php
// action hook for placing content below #container
thematic_belowcontainer();
// calling the standard sidebar
thematic_sidebar();
// calling footer.php
get_footer();
?>`with the following for registration/register.php
`
<?php
thematic_belowpost();
// calling the widget area ‘page-bottom’
get_sidebar(‘page-bottom’);
?>
jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});<?php
// action hook for placing content below #container
thematic_belowcontainer();
// calling the standard sidebar
thematic_sidebar();
// calling footer.php
get_footer();
?>`Save all files. Upload 6 folders with revised files to your server.
Based on the structure of Thematic, you would have to change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your Thematic child theme during the BP Compatibility process.
Download the 6 folders mentioned above – activity, blogs, forums, groups, members, registration – to your computer hard drive.
A. Open up each of the 16 BP files and at the Top of each file replace:
``with:
`<?php
// calling the header.php
get_header();
// action hook for placing content above #container
thematic_abovecontainer();
?><?php
// calling the widget area ‘page-top’
get_sidebar(‘page-top’);
the_post();
thematic_abovepost();
?>
<div id="post-<?php the_ID();
echo ‘” ‘;
if (!(THEMATIC_COMPATIBLE_POST_CLASS)) {
post_class();
echo ‘>’;
} else {
echo ‘class=”‘;
thematic_post_class();
echo ‘”>’;
}
// creating the post header
thematic_postheader();
?>`craig posted at https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/forum/topic/bp-photos-tags-how-to-make-its-width-smaller-so-widgets-arent-pushed-to-site-1/
– closing this topic.In reply to: [resolved] Register Page Loads Blank@tadpubco are you using a WP theme and if so, did you install BP Template Pack and go through Appearance > BP Compatibility?
@dcavins sorry, have never used a Windows server for any WP/BP installation. Perhaps someone with Windows server experience can help you out. Note: Added – “Windows Server” to this Topic’s title for clarity.
== Are you suggesting we copy the contents of wp-config.php and overwrite the contents of bb-config.php? ==
Not at all.
What I’m saying is that the DB info in wp-config.php should be the same as the DB info in the generated bb-config.php file which you would see if the installation of the group forums was successful. Double-check your database if 7 yourPrefix_bb_… tables were generated, though I doubt it at this point.
What you can do is delete the incomplete bb-config.php file you have in server. Then go to dashboard menu BuddyPress > Forums and re-run installation of Group Forums.
In reply to: PollsHaven’t seen a BuddyPress-aware polls plugin at this time.
You’re welcome.
Marking this as resolved then. Cheers
In reply to: theme installation failureIt means you need to activate the BuddyPress plugin.
Sure, you can BP in a secondary blog of your WPMU installation. Create a bp-custom.php file and in it add the following so you can set which blog ID BuddyPress will run on:
`<?php
define ( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, $blog_id );
?>`
Replace $blog_id with the actual side ID# e.g. 35 then save file and upload to wp-content/plugins/ folder– from https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/changing-internal-configuration-settings/
Sure, you can activate a BP-compatible theme for that specific BP in secondary site.
In reply to: [Resolved] Ray of Light WordPress Theme issuesYou’re welcome. Thank you for coming back and sharing the good news

Please post this at BP Album/Media plugin forums so plugin devs can assist you https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/forum/
In reply to: Installing Buddypress HelpIn reply to: New install, nothing works!== Is there a way to find out the basic requirements for BP? ==
See system and server requirements plus WP configuration at https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/
In reply to: New install, nothing works!@glepage could you clarify further re what you mean by BP Template pack doesn’t work? Maybe I should have more explicit, you need to activate BuddyPress plugin first.
As for Twenty Ten, we have a codex article on how to make it compatible with BuddyPress at https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/
In reply to: activity stream filter like buddypress.org?You can check out the code that deals with the dropdown list from line 93 thru line 130 of the activity index file of the bp-default theme https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.4/bp-themes/bp-default/activity/index.php#L130
In reply to: New install, nothing works!@glepage you can integrate BP into your theme. Install and activate the BP Template Pack plugin and go through Appearance > BP Compatibility process https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/ At the bottom of that page you’ll find an example of using the 1st method and two examples of the second method to make your theme compatible with BuddyPress.
In reply to: New install, nothing works!This is not a BuddyPress issue then, but a theme issue. If you change to bp-default theme, I gather that the issue will be corrected.
In all probabilty, your theme would need to be updated to be compatible with latest BP/WP versions. You should contact theme author for the free support which should come together with the purchase of a premium theme.
