In reply to: Mentions not working from the notifications bar….
@cwhittl Thank you for getting back and posting what the problem was! Cheers.
If this is about WP Multi-Network plugin, please log in and post at the WordPress.org forums for the plugin https://wordpress.org/tags/wp-multi-network?forum_id=10
Found interesting threads about possible solutions, including this one https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wp-multi-network-setup-instructions#post-2250134 and follow up from there, up to you.In reply to: Problem with adminbar avatar@hscottda @justin-2-2-2 full integration of BP buddybar with WP adminbar aka Toolbar is set up already in BP trunk version. This may come out sometime BP 1.6 if not sooner.
In reply to: Themes@MikeK The same thing happened to me in a test install. Could be that the auto-install was incomplete or corrupted for some reason. Re-uploading BP Template Pack plugin manually via FTP, then deactivating BP Template Pack plugin in dashboard, then reactivating the plugin brings in the BP Compatibility Link under Appearance > BP Compatibility to start the process.
In reply to: Trouble starting outBP Codex is your friend:
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/#system-server
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/setting-up-a-new-installation/ and follow the link to Installation Wizard
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-buddypress-components/In reply to: ThemesYes it is. It’s one of the tools used when we review themes submitted to the WordPress Theme Repository. We also use the Debogger plugin as well as the Log Deprecated Notices plugin as well. See #1 on this page https://make.wordpress.org/themes/about/how-to-join-wptrt/
In reply to: ThemesWhich plugin did you mean re”process of the theme pack plugin “? The “theme” Check plugin or the BP Template “pack” plugin?
Re Theme Check plugin, it will just generate what the problems are, if any, of your theme vs WP 3.3
Re BP Template Pack plugin, if it doesn’t work for you, deactivate the plugin and then delete the 6 folders transferred to your WP theme in server – activity, blogs, forums, groups, members, and registration.
Sure, backing up DB and server files is always a good thing.
You’re welcome.
In reply to: Read only Forum?For group forums, you can create a group, create a topic, make it sticky and close the topic. Only you can re-open it again and post additional information.
For sitewide forums, create a topic, make it sticky and close the topic.
On another note, as site/super admin, just create links to Page/s re how to access website functionalities , guidelines etc.which appear on sidebar only for forums pages.
In reply to: Problem with adminbar avatarYes, this is an issue, see patch here https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/19539
In reply to: ThemesIf you’ve been hacking your theme, you might want to install Theme Check plugin just to make sure that everything’s kosher. Then to make your WP theme compatible with BuddyPress, you will need to install/activate BP Template Pack plugin which will transfer 6 folders with BP template files to your active WP theme. Go through the BP compatibility process https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
In reply to: Multisite confusion== but when creating a new site (sub-directory) there are no pages so I can’t create the same menu as in the main site. ==
Do you mean you want a sitewide menu with links to pages in the main site?In reply to: Help with buddybar/adminbarDidn’t expect you to install trunk, but glad it’s working out for you

You’re welcome. Glad you resolved the issue

You need to increase memory limits https://codex.buddypress.org/troubleshooting/blank-pages/
Also double-check that your server has the minimum PHP 5.2.4 version required for WP/BP.In reply to: Multiple Albums/ Photo UploadsThere is the free BP Album/Media https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/ but I don’t know if they have multiple photo albums or multiple uploads.
There is the premium BP Gallery which has done that out of the box since Jan 2010 http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-gallery/.
In reply to: Help with buddybar/adminbarI get what you mean. Integration of WP adminbar with BP buddybar into new WP Toolbar is already in BP trunk https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk – might come out in BP 1.6 if not earlier.
Have not heard of an alternative to using the wildcard for subdomain multisite. The best place to find out is at the multisite forums – https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisite
In reply to: Changing HTML in current theme – WP Church ThemeFor the remaining 15 files (If you have multisite/created a network then you have to edit blogs/create.php and blogs/index.php files. if not, then you need to fix 13 more files), all have the same changes at the BOTTOM of each file except for registration.php, where you’ll also need to add the following script in the replacement code in between get_sidebar and get_footer
`
jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});
`The TOP portion of each file will almost be the same as what I posted above for activity/index.php. The difference being some BP page titles are wrapped within opening `
In reply to: Changing HTML in current theme – WP Church Themehttp://hanginout.info/activity is the page where activity/index.php is rendered – and it looks GOOD, success! – just needs some styling improvements. We need to remove the extra `>` in line above `
>` which should only be `
` my bad
15 more files to go https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/#tplfiles
Btw, the link you posted is handled in the /groups/ folder so that hasn’t been “fixed” yet.
In reply to: [This group does not have a forum setup yet] errorCool. Glad you have it resolved.
In reply to: Changing HTML in current theme – WP Church ThemeIn reply to: Changing HTML in current theme – WP Church ThemeDownload the 6 BP template folders tranferred to your wp-church theme during the BP compatibility process down to your computer hard drive. For this session though, we’re going to check how it turns out with one file first to see how we’ll proceed.
Open up /activity/index.php and at the top of the file, replace
`In reply to: Mentions not working from the notifications bar….Did this issue happen only recently or has it always been like this since you first installed BuddyPress? What theme and plugins were you using when this first happened? I would at this point re-run Settings > Permalinks to year/month and Save Changes to “jog” the install.
In reply to: Share music files on buddypress?I’ve used BP Gallery, a premium plugin ($30) since early 2010.
There’s also the free BP Media plugin which you might want to check out. Per plugin info, beta version supports audio files, embedded videos, embedded images, etc. audio files, embedded videos, embedded images, and much, much more.
Keep bp-default theme activated and deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress, clear cache, run Settings > Permalinks and check posting in Activity Stream.
