Save file and then open up the next 12 files per walkthrough and do the same. Upload the revised folders/files to your active WP theme folder in server. Clear cache. Check layout.
Missed that you were using WAMP. Read this to resolve permalink issue so your BP component links will work

Navigation bar for BP-column theme would be in the header.php file
Nice share @LPH2005

Make sure that your have chosen and saved permalink settings to anything other than the default permalink in Settings > Permalinks.
@vfundude62 I see Dfa327, the Ajax Chat plugin dev, more active in WP.org forums https://wordpress.org/tags/buddypress-ajax-chat?forum_id=10
But right now I’m unable to even successfully create new topics in the group forums
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/troubleshooting-posting-in-group-forums/#post-97513
I was thinking of possibly trying to integrate the Mingle Forum to use as a ‘Global board’ while the groups had their own forums.
You can install and use a WP forum plugin like Mingle Forum, SimplePress, etc. The tricky part is integrating the plugin with BuddyPress i.e. forum posts in Mingle Forum or SimplePress won’t appear in sitewide activity if you do not create a “bridge” script or plugin nor will forum topics posted in BP group forums appear in Mingle or SimplePress forum topc list. If that’s acceptable to you, then using one of WP forum plugins is the way to go for your “global board”
creating a ‘global board/forum’
There is a premium BP-compatible Global Forum plugin working on top of the internal bbPress forum installation http://buddydev.com/plugins/global-forums/
P.S. If you’re not in a rush, bbPress is being converted to a WP plugin. See roadmap > Milestone: Plugin
https://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/roadmap
– Did you check your database if bbPress forum tables were created?
– Did you check “enable forums” in Group Admin settings? Must do this for every group to allow group forums.
– Otherwise WP/BP versions and details about your installation please.
Yup. This is from old thread but still works to present https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/adding-content-to-the-12-default-theme-homepage/?topic_page=4&num=15#post-38442 – go to Nathan Rice blog link to see three different ways.
BP/WP versions? Make sure you have GD library installed in your server – ask webhost tech support if you have one.
WP/BP versions?
Is WP install working correctly before activating BuddyPress?
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/
Did you install WP via fantastico? Start from scratch and manually upload WP files, create database and install. Those quickie WP installation scripts are not compatible with BP.
EDIT – found this too via search in BP forums
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/internal-server-error-after-activating-bp/#post-42971
Is this then an issue with Messages only? In other words, those who register on your site using email addresses that end with country code extensions receive activation emails?.
Agreed, hnla. There’s this other way to control group creation though haven’t tried it myself

On my end, I’ve seen this happen with an outdated BP theme (including bp-template pack) which still use bp_member_add_friend_button. Seriously needs updating.
Usually add to the functions.php file of the active theme. So if you’re using a WP Theme with BP Template Pack, then it would be referring to your WP theme’s functions.php
13 BuddyPress template files were transferred to your active WordPress theme during the BP template pack process. Download said 13 BP template files to your computer and start making the following revisions starting with the activity/index.php file:
At the top of the file, replace:
`
with
`
and at the bottom of the same file, replace
`
`
with
`
`
Save and do the same for the remaining 12 BP template files. Upload to server.

Looks like you installed WP in community subfolder. Unfortunately, you haven’t uploaded all the WordPress files and folder required to make it work. Before installing BuddyPress, make sure that your WordPress install is working well
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/
Have you tried https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/s2member/
Cool. Glad you have it resolved it
Thank you @hnla
@magcindy you place the import line in your WP theme’s style.css file.
The registration page is now by default at http://yoursite.com/register

=== all the possible available (BP I think) links appear in the far left of the bottom of the footer. ===
I believe you’re referring to the BP Admin Bar. I assume you used the BP Template pack plugin to make your WP theme compatible with BP. You will also need to load the styling for BP admin bar via @import.
`/*
Theme Name: Name of your Theme
… etc
… etc
… etc
*/
/* Load the default admin bar styles */
@ import url( ../../plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/css/adminbar.css );`
