In reply to: BuddyMobile showing in desktop verion
Better to use FTP, there are many free FTP programs.
In reply to: BuddyMobile showing in desktop verionNo. The plugin has its own theme files. You just need to create a mobile version of your custom page inside the plugin folder. buddypress-mobile/templates/default/page.php <- duplicate and convert to custom
In reply to: BuddyMobile showing in desktop verionOk, go into buddymobile plugin folder and duplicate page.php and turn it into a custom page named same as the one in your regular theme folder.
Dont get discouraged, any little bit helps.
In reply to: BuddyMobile showing in desktop verionCache might not be the issue, is that photo page a custom page template?
In reply to: BuddyMobile showing in desktop verionIf you are using a cache plugin turn it off for mobile devices.
In reply to: [resolved] Online shop for each profileNot sure, are you using bp default or custom theme?
In reply to: Edit bp-members-functions.php to include UsernameTo change message text use a function and filter
`function my_message_text($message) {
Message code here for anything you want in email
}
add_filter( ‘bp_core_signup_send_validation_email_message’, ‘my_message_text’ );`No way is the codex holding up a release. In my opinion the codex is a lost cause without a significant amount of volunteers to manage the content. It’s downright depressing and probably a turn off to people deciding if BuddyPress is the right choice.
I recently have been going over the structure and content of the WP codex and even though some of its content is lacking it is by far more helpful than what is here but like i said this codex just doesn’t have the workforce to make it what it should be. Also I feel some of the non developers in the BuddyPress community should jump in to contribute. If i had more time i would but i use my time for development not documentation. Thanks for your effort!
In reply to: Making the use of a Username more clearYou can remove the name field by going to the wp admin Users > profile fields.
Anything in the base/first section is required at sign up.
In reply to: Buddypress 1.7No date. Everyone works on BP as a volunteer and its up to how much the community works on it.
In reply to: JS/Ajax issue on Activity StreamTake the folder _inc from buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default and copy it into your theme folder.
In reply to: Buddypress 1.7A first RC to test will probably be within a few weeks. Not to be used in live sites until the bugs are shaken out.
In reply to: [resolved] Online shop for each profileLike I said, you will have to use multisite. I’m dumbfounded ecommerce plugin devs haven’t created this.
In reply to: BP and Responsive design, best way to go?1.7 is the version # there should be a usable version in a few weeks if not sooner
In reply to: BP and Responsive design, best way to go?Yes, but if you wait a few weeks for BP 1.7 you’ll not need to hack a WP theme to work.
In reply to: [resolved] Online shop for each profileNo. Only option would be to use WordPress multisite and allow users to create a blog/store
Cover image has been such a requested feature. I will write a plugin that themes can use to display images. It will only be for BP 1.7.
In reply to: Components and new WP Toolbar IntegrationI must have misunderstood you.
In reply to: Components and new WP Toolbar Integrationif ( version_compare( BP_VERSION, ‘1.5’, ‘>’ ) )
You would have to test version and do backpat
In reply to: How to get the user id?I don’t want to discourage anyone from creating BuddyPress themes but version 1.7 is very close and you don’t need to go through special hoops to create a theme for BuddyPress. BP 1.7 will work with any theme. The template files in 1.7 are minimally designed to fit inside existing WP themes. You can then add a few more styles to your WP theme to make the BP template files look even better with your theme.
You can test out the new way BuddyPress theming will work: https://github.com/paulgibbs/turtleshell
Glad it worked out. BP 1.7 should fit into responsive themes better than 1.6. BuddyMobile is for a more app like experience. Not really suppose to be used in conjunction with the main theme. Think of it more as facebook.com and then the Facebook app for a device.
Do not cache BP pages. Cache is meant for static content not dynamic pages like BuddyPress activity.
