In reply to: XML Api
I had played with the json API plugin and it could be extended to work. Curious, why do you need this functionality?
In reply to: Twitter for BuddyPress Pollso you’d want users to have to a authenticate twice? What is the reasoning behind this? I don’t see why that would be beneficial
In reply to: Twitter for BuddyPress Poll@Boone, I agree, you would be able to change twitter accounts after login. Current twit connects do not allow changing accounts.
The issue for users is this scenario; what if every twitter app made you login then re auth just to send tweets? I want to kill the double auth. There is no forcing of Twitter login. If you use WP login then going to your Twitter tab it would ask you to add Twitter. So you either add it at reg. or later or not at all.
In reply to: No one is able to ‘reply’ since the last upgradeTIP: never upgrade on a live site, always test on a separate install before so you don’t break your site until plugins and themes are made compatible. #BrokenRecord
I usually do not upgrade my plugins or themes until a major . Update. will fix any issues when 1.3 drops
In reply to: Profile rating systemThere isn’t a profile rate plugin but this one could possibly be adapted

in admin under BuddyPress components link you can disable groups component.
In reply to: Show single group activity and post-formUse what Ray suggested but where are you trying to add this group activity loop?
Is it wp user meta? That is what you should be using to store extra user data.

If you hold out a bit I’ll update theme when BP 1.3 gets released, that version has custom navs built in. 1.3 should be coming soon.
In reply to: Buddypress/wordpress slowing down my shared serverI should have said multiple WordPress sites are not good on $5 hosting. BBPress is changing to a WordPress Plugin and would probably not require as much resources. FaceBook connect creates WordPress users. Users can use BuddyPress or Next version of BBPress from WordPress user accounts.

Couldn’t this be converted to profiles?
In reply to: Limiting text length of activity update postsPaul, I pretty much posted the code on here.

Who wants this as an option? If it’s a majority i’ll create a patch. Though, I think if it is wanted there should be an admin option for on or off as well as how many characters
In reply to: Google Plus Oneno, not completely done, just not much time right now.
In reply to: Limiting text length of activity update postsin your header.php file put it between “ tags or you can have your own .js file to place custom javascript
@aljuck try something like this:
`jQuery(‘#aw-whats-new-submit’).click(function() {
jQuery(‘textarea’).next().text(‘100’);
});`In reply to: Google Plus OneI’m updating all plugins when BP 1.3 gets released and removing google wave and replacing it with +1. Also implementing a Share on “ browser bookmarklet.
In reply to: Limiting text length of activity update postsHere is a jquery version. http://pastebin.com/PP1BPSQT
If you want to show character count put `left: 100` next to textarea html
In reply to: BuddyPress Tweet Button pluginI haven’t updated this in a long time. Have you tried BuddyPress Share It?
In reply to: Call to arms – Own your taskSidebar switching should def be added to 1.4 bp-default as a theme function.
In reply to: I need a tutorial of Citizen Kane Themestyle.css file
In reply to: Mashable running BP?I doubt it’s BP, why change every last CSS class and ID and js files to achieve the same effect?
In reply to: Call to arms – Own your taskThe only reason to split up CSS is to separate layout from design and since BP only has one design I don’t see the purpose and it adds requests. The single most thing that bp.org needs is to drop the activity stream. Push everything into forums and hopefully get some of JJJ’s bbpress into it with more forum features.
This site does need a better look to entice users. Needs a showcase section and How-to’s. I have no problem with bp-default other than the fact that it should not be required to get features into a WordPress theme. This should be the goal, creating a new design does not accomplish that. Focus on the problems not cover it up with fancy design. Base theme should be clean and simple not overly designed. You could even have a few child themes to show what’s capable with simple CSS/ javascript tweaks.
That’s a few things off the top of my head.
In reply to: Singular Activity StreamWon’t work currently. You can only show one “scope’ or all of them. I had tried to do what you are asking for a theme and it’s a BP core thing that needs added. @DJPaul suggested adding this request to trac.buddypress.org
In reply to: iPhone App?Native would be hard to do for every BP site. Configurations are to different. WP app is the same for every blog. You can also use BuddyPress mobile if you want something more optimized.
