In reply to: My Project – Is BuddyPress suitable for me?
You could create your own buddypress component or use something like gravity forms. Did you search for a WP plugin for this type function? A lot of WP plugins work in most cases. You could also hack the groups into something else.
like @mercime said “Deactivate BP Template Pack if you’re going to use a BuddyPress-compatible theme already.”
ok you need to remove
div id=container
div id=contentand replace it with
div id=”main-area

Are you using the template pack?See if you remove this code from one of the BP template files. go into activity/index.php and remove these two things from top and bottom. See if this fixes issue. normally you would add your themes wrapper divs to the BP files but since they are in the header you may need to remove BP’s wrapper files.
<div id="content">
<div class="padder">***** middle stuff here
</div><!-- .padder -->
</div><!-- #content -->
Post up the header.php code as well. I think you might have a theme that has the main wrapper in the header file.
In reply to: Facebook-like photo/video/link posting pluginThere currently is no function like this. If you use the oEmbed plugin it will allow embedding pics and videos when you post activity updates.
In reply to: How to hide some profile fields from publicI just tried that plugin and it seems to be working. What didn’t work for you?
paste the contents of your page.php file here http://pastebin.com/ and then post the link to it. So we can see the structure.
In reply to: BuddyPress Privacy: Can we get it in core?I would forget bp-privacy and move on. There is this plugin as a start. Not sure if it works looks abandoned.
In reply to: problem with basic formatting of buddypress menuIf you use a non BuddyPress theme then you need to do a little more work search for BuddyPress template pack plugin. Install and follow directions. This will move some extra theme files into your WordPress theme and include the necessary functions and JavaScript to run BuddyPress
You can get all that working on the BP registration form.
The requiring x amount of numbers for a password can be done with JavaScript
In reply to: How to make a share link servise for buddypressNo, like a browser bookmarklet so when you are on say YouTube to click bookmarklet it opens small window to post an update with video in update.
Though that badge plugin should be kept alive
Just curious, what is the reason to use WP registration?
In reply to: How to make a share link servise for buddypressI created the buddypress share plugin and this is something on my roadmap for the plugin.
In reply to: How to put textbox on every page on forumsin groups/forum/topic.php
you need to remove this if statement. That statement tells the text box to only show on last page.
if ( bp_get_the_topic_is_last_page()
In reply to: Application Pool Limit?bet it’s the chat plugin. Also each plugin could have it’s on CSS and javascript files. Did you try using this?
In reply to: blogs-loop.php?In bp-blog/bp-blogs-templatetags.php you can find the function bp_blog_latest_post
This function is what out puts the latest blog info on the blogs loop. You could copy this and create a new function and add the code to call the avatar and excerpt.
In reply to: Detecting if you are on a specific sub navTo test, I used it to just echo a string if on the profile of a members page.
I’m using it on a member page not members direectory. Taking the user nav and the sub nav and putting it into a sidebar so when you click profile on the user nav the get options nav shows underneath.
bp-default has 2 separate navs and calls the options nav depending on the user nav. I want to mush that into one nav.
In reply to: Detecting if you are on a specific sub navHere’s something else I was trying to create. This would be great for theme devs. Basically wanted to merge the user nav and subnav together. This code works great but I’m not sure how to only show the subnav when on the parent user nav. This code just outputs everything. I got as far as showing only the first link by wrapping echo in an if statement because when you click a parent link you are in essence on the firs subnav.
In reply to: Buddypress as an Ad ServerSeems you want something more like http://www.openx.org/
In reply to: Detecting if you are on a specific sub navThat didn’t work.
In reply to: How enlarge my header image!First: DO NOT POST THE SAME QUESTION MORE THAN ONCE IN A FORUM. If it has been at least 24 hours since you posted the topic and no body answered then reply to the first post so your topic bounces to the top. This is basic forum etiquette.
**************************************************If you want to use the admin upload for the header image then you will need to edit code in functions.php in the theme folder to specify a larger image and then change the CSS.
Find this: function bp_dtheme_add_custom_header_support()
And below you can see the heights. Make sure the HEADER_IMAGE_HEIGHT is 25px taller than the CSS height. This is to accommodate padding
define( ‘HEADER_IMAGE_HEIGHT’, 125 ); <—- this could be 325
height: 100px; <— and then you'd change this to 300pxIn reply to: Buddypress Template Pack issueIf you can deactivate all plugins and then ONLY activate template pack. Try that. The javascript I posted from your theme could be funky with other javascript. Not sure why they have CSS in it instead of having it in the css file.
In reply to: Buddypress Template Pack issueDid you try to ask the theme developer?
