@r-a-y tried it but still not saving on group creation

My goal here is to have a base for other noobs to work off and if I could get it working with additions, I could compleate my current project..

ta @hnla, group-tags also wasn’t working on my install, you have to go to admin panel>my account>groups>tags ( its blank-just have to name it ) and you can enter the tags there. Doesn’t work on the group creation which thinking of it now, is probably what the problem is >.<

Been looking for guidance on where I can find ‘help’ files/plugins for like 3 weeks to do this, learning as I go along. Ill drop the group-tag stuff, just keeping the form in the group creation steps and try looking at the skeleton competent as you mentioned.

K well Iv’e given it a go. Looks like the data isn’t being saved in group meta. Im not sure when it comes to BP. Could you take a look @hnla and let me know if its in the right direction. I worked off the group tags plugin. The tags plugin saves it to group meta, don’t know if this is the right thing to do but saving it like ‘name’ or ‘description’ of a group is beyond me for now it seems.

It adds a field in group creation step1. called location.

Im also begging some1 to do something like this, been trying to work off other plug-in’s but most dont work due to new bp version.

I had a look at there site, they aren’t offering support for Buddypress GEO it seems, posts don’t get feedback..

“We haven’t had time to work on BuddyPress GEO for some time. It was a plugin that was developed for some work with Automattic about six months ago, but we haven’t really looked at it since then. Unfortunately right now WPtouch and WordTwit are taking all our resources. I did a quick update yesterday to make it work with the new version of BuddyPress, but haven’t done any work on it since the original code. “

Solution: lol its was just to rename the file to buddypress-(file name).po but thanks for the help

@thelandman, I’ve generated the mo file, now where do I put it? I think you asked the same question in another thread that wasn’t answered so hopefully u have the answer ?

K the errors were due to leaving out the php tags.. but still how to run the command line alludes me.

I want to have 2 groups:

1 being the origional groups (eg: schools, simply changing the labels and so on)

2 being a modified one (eg: student groups)

If I just made a copy(now having two bp-groups), and changed both of their labels and so on, surely they would conflict?

Sorry about the above post, wasn’t thinking. But I need to find out, say I wanted to customize the wordpress-mu/groups/absa, (absa being a random group so I can see the page.) How can I find the page that contains like the order the widgets appear in, (where <div class=”inner-tube”> is). Like Discription, News.. and so on, if I wanted News to appears above Discription, what page would I do this on.

I can edit through firebug but cant/dont know how to save the change, which would be wrong anyway cause the page was generated?

So how would I find the ‘layout’ page? If that makes more sence
