@Paul Gibbs In other words, a new user who registers cannot see any of the added BuddyPress functions. To any new users it apears as if BP was never installed. This wasn’t the case before I installed multi-user.

Both plugins require WordPress 3.1 and the latest version of BuddyPress.

For now I’ve decided to try the Suffusion theme system.
@Virtuali Disqus and IntenseDebate both have some shortcomings that I can’t deal with having on my site.

@Paul Thanks for adding the Wp Trac. I’ve decided to stick with 3.0.5 to make development easier until a fix is published.

I installed latest WP and BP locally and am having no database crash so far. It leads me to believe @Paul Gibbs is correct.

Right now I’m thinking of grabbing the “Notification” item in bp default adminbar, which would at least be better than having four separate links to messages/friend-requests/group-membership-requests/group-invites.

Do you have an answer how to achieve this?
