@bplove I searched around and found this: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/editable-comments/
In reply to: Diaspora releasedI saw that, pretty cool. http://www.joindiaspora.com/2010/09/15/developer-release.html
In reply to: How to set up a custom avatars SET in Buddypress?Googling around revealed these plugins:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/custom-avatars-for-comments/
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/add-new-default-avatar-emrikols-fork/
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/add-new-default-avatar/
I would dig around a little more on Google. I’m sure you’ll find some more plugins.
In reply to: Need help to find a Tagging plugin?Hi Adam,
As far as I know such a plugin does not exist. The closest options are BuddyPress Activity Tags and BuddyPress Group Tags.
There might be such a plugin over on WPMU DEV but I don’t know since I’m not a subscriber. I kind of doubt it though.
In reply to: Posts of the main blog in site wide activityAlternatively in your main blog’s privacy settings settings you can hide it from search engines. That’ll prevent your blog from being indexed and keep the posts from appearing on the sitewide activity stream. Unfortunately it also means that your site won’t show up on Google or Yahoo because of it.
In reply to: Problems with activation plugin. How did you install the plugin? With the default WordPress installer or via FTP?
In reply to: How do I invite friends? We run this one on our site: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/wordpress-mu-secure-invites/
In reply to: Home PageHere are 2 good starting points
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-kaltura-media-component/
The concept sounds good. I don’t have much but I’ll chip in $15 to help you get started if there seems to be enough interest from the community.
In reply to: creating a new page with a chat script@thelandman That looks great. I’m a big proponent of lettings others learn from what we’ve done and accomplished. Is there any chance you could turn it into a plugin or possibly submit your code to the phpfreechat plugin developers and invite them to release their future versions with your “BP-enabled” settings?
In reply to: What things are called in the cssI believe the answer to your first question is found in the source code:
`
Sorry, there were no blogs found.
`
So to access that via CSS would be:
`div#message`
In reply to: Creating A New AccountGlad you figured it out.
In reply to: *updated* BuddyPress Groupblog – update the plug-in@Nit3watch Thanks for the heads-up.
In reply to: BP Developer Chat TodayUnfortunately I have an appointment during today’s meeting so I’m afraid I’ll miss it.
In reply to: Multiblog + unique communitiesTo my knowledge no such plugin exists but it makes since. I thought I read something a couple of weeks ago during the bi-weekly BP dev chat that someone was working on something like that. I believe they called it BP Multi-user (i.e. BPMU).
In reply to: Release for 1.2.6?That would be freaking awesome!
In reply to: Release for 1.2.6?@rossagrant That would be 9 tickets, 6 of which have patches. https://trac.buddypress.org/query?status=assigned&status=new&status=accepted&status=reopened&group=status&milestone=1.2.6
Most of the tickets have been fixed and the remaining ones either have patches or loop pretty “puntable”. A couple of the major reasons I’d like to see 1.2.6 released soon is because:
1. It allows to @jeffsayre release his long-awaited privacy plugin
2. It fixes the “sent X hours ago relative to GMT” PM bug.
3. It enhances the CSS styling for the way that activity replies are shown. In reply to: Features for BuddyPressI agree that all of those things would be awesome. In fact if Lifestream made their plugin compatible with BP that would be awesome!
Sitewide Tagging = Plugin
Extended Profile Page = Plugin
Aggregation of Web 2.0 Sources = Plugin
Collaboration = PluginPrivacy = Core
Are you a coder and asking what plugin the community would like you to make?
In reply to: events plugin?Oh, one last note, if you end up using the EventPress plugin you’ll also need to install the BP Custom Posts plugin as well.
In reply to: events plugin?I’m not yet, but we’re planning to within the next month or so.
In reply to: events plugin?EventPress was sponsored by Google Code of Summer so I would have high hopes for it.
Hmm… sounds like you should submit a trac ticket: https://trac.buddypress.org/
In reply to: BP Advanced SEOSince this is more of a general SEO question and not so much a BP question I would refer you to some SEO guides that are pretty helpful:
Keyword Tools
http://searchengineland.com/the-giant-list-of-keyword-tools-41678SEO Ranking Factors
http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/google-ranking-factors.htmThe 2nd link is especially helpful. Good luck.
In reply to: akismet?@catchit If I remember correctly Akismet is only for blog comments… not blog posts, forum posts, or updates. To prevent that you’ll need to prevent spam users from signing up for your site in the first place. I would recommend using the BuddyPress Humanity plugin.
In reply to: akismet?Yeah, we run akismet on our site without a hitch. We’ve enabled it sitewide and hard-coded in the API key. Just look in the first 20 or so lines of the source code and you’ll see in the comments where to hard-code it.
