I too am having this problem how about anyone else having this problem with the latest version? Or is this a known bug?
let me clearly ask at least one question that would be very helpful in my knowledge and future development of how buddypress is working using AJAX.
How can I create my own loops and use them within the ajax filtering options on the main activity wall?
Tearing my hair out at this point. nothing seems to be doing what I expect or what I think should happen. Can anyone not answer any of my questions? It would be so helpful if I could get some explanation on how the AJAX works.
Anyone got any input on this? I have been through the code over and over and I know I am making it way harder then it should be. Any grunt noise or links to more detailed explanation would be great.
Hello Again,
I am having trouble still. I seem to not understand the process in which to add a query string from the main activity wall. Pretty much I am stuck on how and where to put my new update-loop.php to see if it is working. It just defaults out to site wide activity. I have read through the _inc/ajax.php and can see a switch statement to get the feed url for the main filtering options but on how it filters is still the big mystery for me. WHere and how are the feeds being generated, do I need to make my own feed? If someone knows could they please help by explaining the flow of what happens and where to put my new update-loop.php file so it can filter and look amazing!
Oh okay,
So looking through the table in the database under activity I see the type, Can i use these types to filter like activity_update or activity_liked? Also that may be exactly what I am looking for having your own type. and then filtering off of that. Thanks.
arrg!
Is it something I am saying or doing /not doing that makes it so no one wants to respond to any of my questions? If so even a response to this question would be appreciated.
Yea I would like two types of membership roles. One where they get access to buddypress pages and maybe some other pages. As well as another membership role were they don’t get access to much if anything at all.
Right now I have it so logged out members do not have access to buddypress but I want to create a user who does not get access to any posts and buddypress pages. Would be nice if someone could lead us in the right direction. I saw some plugins that will help create roles and such but it does not allow for specification of buddypress pages too.
Thank you mercrime for the reply, which means it is possible to do , however could you provide a more detailed form of support rather than posting a link which does half way answer the question however how can I filter out specific to my request not just all group activity and all group freindships.
Thanks for any advice,
Yes sorry for not being so clear. By show them offline I simply meant that they are not shown on the who’s online widget even though they are logged in.
What I would like, is to show every user who is logged in not just active up to a maximum of course.
So what you are saying is the who’s online widget shows only users who have done something within the last five minutes, this would explain what I was referring to, thanks.
Do you have any suggestions as to a who logged in widget or some code pointers to get me started?
Okay well I did just create two usernames for buddypress and tried it on the main site and sure enough it took one offline when I was not. Looks like either this is the way they wanted to function (can’t see why) or some sort of caching issue like you stated above. I created a ticket here so maybe we can get more of an official word on the matter. https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3590
No need for apologies, I appreciate your quick response. I’ll come back with any findings I may have, but probably won’t look to heavily into it until tonight…
@bitofgrace Hey I am seeing the same issue as well. I actually made a post about it where I havent got any word back yet. Have you gotten this to work properly or any more ideas on what my be causing this? maybe we can help eachother because I would like the avatars to stay present when they are logged in. I am almost tempted to write my own but I would like to get the current one working sounds more realistic.
Does anyone have any ideas or is this common for the online widget? I hope someone can just clear this up for me, Thanks
Ha! thanks of course it is something that easy. Thanks again!
like for every member should be able to post via post box on every other member activity wall correct?
hmm a post box on every wall? maybe something happened to mine? It is not there even when I switch to the buddypress default theme. I will do some more testing. Thanks for a response always appreciated!
Okay I will look into this and come back with what I find thanks!
Okay problem solved it was a theme problem that I fixed.
update I deactivated all my plugins and then only activated buddypress and it seemed to get rid of the ads code, but still displayed site wide activity for each member. so it was a plugin issue, one that I was using to place ads into the posts and pages. Not crucial but would be nice to have eventually working so users can put in their own code without tweaking the template. one last thing that is a different topic I also upgraded bpPicture Album to the new version thinking it would improve my problem but am getting this error when i activated it and on the album page.
Warning: call_user_func_array() [function.call-user-func-array]: First argument is expected to be a valid callback, '' was given in /home/content/12/4455612/html/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 414
I’ll ask the creater of the plugin too. Thanks for the support

Hey John thanks for getting back to me on this so quickly, you actually have to be a member to see the buddypress part of the site. but I’ll create you a user name named: jacoby , password: password so you could have a look but the link is HERE
Cheers,
Aaron.
Alright worked perfectly well atleast the debugger did I am getting an error -32301 >> transport error – HTTP status code was not 200
I have seen this before on a different topic and someone said it was due to a server issue or hosting issue but didn’t really see any resolve. So I called my host and absolutely no idea or help was attained mostly confusion on this topic. The support just told me that everything is running smoothly and we don’t understand why your getting this error. She even made me email a screen shot. And then still didn’t understand. Any idea’s on what I should do maybe a different host for starters? Thanks for the link to the debugger and instructions r-a-y always appreciate the help.
Hey r-a-y I tried to get to burts website and download his XMLRPC- debugger but his site is down or something it just says address can not be found. I have the same problem you did where I can not post to the group forum but a new forum gets created for the group on the forum’s main page. Not sure what to do at this point. Maybe you can send me an email with the debugger so i can check for the errors that are causing this.
I also tried downloading a new xmlrpc file and replacing it with my current one but no help there it was the same file size.
Thanks for any help or guidance to a solution,
Aaron.
Oh I am using all the up to date wpmu buddypress and bbpress software available.
