I’m going to try your suggest .diff patch this morning…
rich! @ etiviti and @r-a-y,
Thank you both so much for responding to this question as it it an important one for me to resolve.
For us… I’m not as code savvy as I would like to be. If I edit the entry.php theme file, is there a place in there that will then duplicate the activity stream entry (or Group Stream Entry) back into the forum? At this point I don’t wnat to turn off the stream commenting -if possible… I like how it glues it all together. Here is the thought flow that I would like to have happen:
1. Somebody enters a Forum Topic (not Group Activity Comment) –>
2. Someone else replies to the Topic via the Activity Stream or Group Stream (Not in the Forum itself) –>
3. The reply from #2 (the reply was left via the Activity Stream or Group Stream NOT in the FORUM) should appear in the Forum itself under the original Forum Topic Post.
4. This process should not affect somebody replying to post in the Forum itselfy, that should work as it does.If somebody would show me a mod for that I would be ecstatic…
In reply to: incorrect status time? sometime ago?Help me to understand some of the trac lingo… What is a .diff vs. A .patch? @r-a-y. Thanks for your help.
In reply to: Change Group Tab TitlesAnywhere in the functions.php…
In reply to: Change Group Tab TitlesRay,
i can put this code anywhere? when I update theme Ill still have to update code… how often is the default buddy press theme updated in new releases of bp?In reply to: incorrect status time? sometime ago?Sorry Please, note I posted in wrong message above. I was referring to timestamp message issue in ticket 2203 found here:
https://trac.buddypress.org/attachment/ticket/2203/bp-messages-classes.patch NOT ticket 2405In reply to: incorrect status time? sometime ago?Yes private messages… using the included ticket “patch”
In reply to: How to make a Facebook-esque “Like” button for BP?Did you look at the BuddyPress Plugins.. There is a nice BP LIKE plugin already done…
In reply to: incorrect status time? sometime ago?Perhaps a simple -5 hours option or -x option somewhere in the code?
In reply to: incorrect status time? sometime ago?Changed it back, and the messages work again..
In reply to: incorrect status time? sometime ago?ok… no longer works for me.. fixed the time, but after a few messages no one is getting their messages…
I just sent the plugin creator the question here: https://buddypress.org/community/members/nuprn1/
We both are trying to accomplish the same thing… Only I’m not using RC2 2.9.2 ~Last STable It’s the right plugin, we just can’t seem to implement it @David LewisIn reply to: Tweetstream (twitter plugin) Beta testers needed! This is a major plugin, we need to support Peter -This plugin and FACESTREAM are critical to me using Buddypress as my Pre-Buddypress PLN consisted of Twitter and FB folks, if you can -think about donating to this plugin… I did.
In reply to: message timestamps are wrongThis patch appears to be working for me… Thanks for the ticket link.
@LwEEs … yes it would be easy to pull, but it would be better if I could find a way to make it work as I’m trying too…that is –>
Post a forum topic –>
Reply in forum or reply in Group THREAD –>
Appears in forum topic in next sequence…In reply to: How remove Reply button in global activityYou can disable, I think, in the General Settings under Buddypress look for “Allow users to post activity updates and track all activity across the entire site.”….
@thekemen did it mess anything else up for you? I may just try it and see what happens… I’m not looking for “blog comments” just groupstream-to-original-forum post/reply…
@thekmen I’m talking about the first plugin you mentioned… the 2nd one, https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-activity-as-blog-comments/, doesn’t look like it would do what I’m looking for… are you sure you are not talking about the first one you mentioned:https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-group-forum-extras/ ??
I’m convinced of it as well, I was just reading some posts at the plugin group, can’t seem to find the answer though… my default topic.php code is different than that in the search and replace, I’ve tried a couple of things but “no dice” yet…
Yeah, I just realized the code I posted broke this thread, so I deleted the post
Ok… going back through this the plugin suggested by @thekmen actually says it will do what I’m trying to make it do with the “activity” plugin… @r-a-y said in his post, not possible yet… I’m now saying that the code to find and replace in the plugin is different than what is in the topic.php file… If we can get that to work, it should work… maybe?
Looks like it won’t work for what I’m talking about @r-a-y is on the right track in pointing me… just some semantics here with the code..
thekmen… Did the plugin fix the issue with replying to a forum post in the “group stream” and importing it back into the Group Forum?
Doesn’t let me post code…
My code to look for in the plugin extras page is different.I have a do action bp_after_group_forum_topic_posts in the middle of what to look for…
Ok.. I’ve actived the plugin, activated the “BuddyPress Forums Extras – Activity” Assuming this is the corrective plugin… Didn’t work, but I’m going to assume I didn’t modify the theme, so I need to do that… running through the read me now…
