In reply to: Facestream (Facebook plugin)
I’ve completely turned this plugin off… @blackphantom said there was a new update for this coming out this week or next in another post I’ve read somewhere on BP.
I’ve been posting some of the picts as I go along here… currently using Faststone capture… jing is very cool though…
@paulhastings0 I added annother of my experiences to this trac ticket after trying the diff. patch code on 1.2.5.2 WP 3.0 ….
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2203In reply to: User lost activation emailI just delete them and tell them to sign on again… seems to be working for me…
@rossgrant
Since the update, I’m not getting the sometime ago… it now says 0 seconds ago when I post are you using WP 3.0 and 1.2.5.2?
@rossagrant There was a trac. supposed to be fixed for this…
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2405If it’s still not working maybe others can confirm and the Ticket should be re-opened… Anyone else getting either of these two problems?
Hi Jeff,
I’m new to BP, but have been trying to get a handle on some of this and am starting to participate in the TRAC system after confirming on BP.. Truth is it’s a little intimidating to use the TRAC system…
In reply to: How to make a private community?Seems like I could have added some kind of IF ~whatever the FEED function~ RETURN to the Registered Users Only 2 plugin and achieved the same thing… but I don’t know what the “whatever the FEED function” is to add… @r-a-y
In reply to: How to make a private community?@r-a-y I used your code suggestion and some that I found in Restrict User 2 With Viper’s original Restrict User Plugin
Found here http://www.viper007bond.com/wordpress-plugins/registered-users-only/
because I wanted the site to be restricted to registered users only… still allow access to the login/activiate page and ALSO allow access to the feeds…I ended up with this.
// Depending on conditions, run an authentication check
function MaybeRedirect() {
// If the user is logged in, then abort
if ( current_user_can(‘read’) ) return;$settings = get_option( ‘registered-users-only’ );
// Feeds
if ( 1 == $settings && is_feed() ) return;// This is a base array of pages that will be EXCLUDED from being blocked
if ($bp&&($bp->current_component == BP_REGISTER_SLUG ))//buddypress
return;if ( bp_is_register_page() || bp_is_activation_page() || is_page(‘welcome’) ) //buddypress
return;$this->exclusions = array(
‘wp-login.php’,
‘wp-signup.php’,
‘wp-register.php’,
‘wp-activate.php’,
‘wp-cron.php’, // Just incase
‘wp-trackback.php’,
‘wp-app.php’,
‘xmlrpc.php’,
);
It appears to be working… Do you have any thoughts on the above? Thanks
In reply to: Newbie Struggling To Make BuddyPress FunctionBtw,
When I started out this process not even two months ago I decided very quickly to stick to the default theme as it seems there are so many issues with making other themes work correctly with BP, even if they are listed here as BP themes…. BP seems to be on the tarmack, just about ready to take off. It has gotten much better and more stable in the last month even…
In reply to: Newbie Struggling To Make BuddyPress Function1. There is number of discussion on this forum about issues signing up… most likely they didn’t get the activation e-mail …check spam/junk folder…. I tried to register for your site and did not recieve the e-mail so it may be you are having trouble sending mail from your server? Can you get it to send you an e-mail?
2. This has be solved here:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/fatal-error-when-trying-to-delete-user/
3. If they have created member accounts and have not “verified”… it may not show as they are listed as “spammer users” until they register…so I’ve read here.
Here is another link:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/test-7/
…and another:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/members-list-not-showing-bp12/I’ve talked about this before… doesn’t seem to make headway…. I would love to see a stream for people that simply hit the “reply” button to your status update (anywhere)… This would appear as an option in the stream choices on the activity stream page… it really makes too much sense not to have it….
In reply to: Facestream (Facebook plugin)@blackphantom Confirm @stang5_0 import time does not save in current version with bp 1.2.5 and wp 3.0
In reply to: Fatal Error when trying to Delete UserThanks @dnmedia

foreach ( $group_ids->groups as $group_id ) { is on LINE 2107I can CONFIRM this fix has worked for me. @r-a-y
In reply to: Is bp dying a slow death?I think it seems people are waiting for the next stable releases as well… Don’t give up on BP! ever! It rocks! Thank you all, if I could code I would… but as a newbie with bp, the potential for this far is beyond anything else out there for sure.
In reply to: is there a how to guide anywhere?Here is a simple guide:
http://sparun.in/a-simple-buddypress-guide/Here is a more involved guide:
http://premium.wpmudev.org/the-buddypress-manual/Hope it helps… BTW, I’ve posted questions that have gone unanswerd on this site for days..(some weeks) Sooner or later somebody answers, if not -that’s the way it goes when you’re not paying for support and your using an open-sourced product. The guys at http://premium.wpmudev.org/ offer paid support if you need it. Also the guys at http://bp-dev.org/ will hire out for projects. The core group of coders here are pretty amazing…
After seaching for a month as to what the best social site software is for my use, I kept coming back to Buddypress because it allowed me the freedom to do what I wanted… The others were very restrictive in their “canned” solutions. I’m pretty happy so far. AND very much looking forward to the major update of WordPress 3.0 Stable, coupled with Buddypress NEW Stable… it looks as though all of the problems that I have had are going to be fixed in a month or so…
In reply to: Privacy Plugin Testing ?We are using the privacy plugin at http://musicpln.org… Would love to see the options for privacy bumpted from the ‘back-end” dashboard to the front-end privacy pages…. No problems… so far…
In reply to: mY WEBSITE DISAPPEARED@techguy is correct… You have to delete or MOVE/RENAME the wp-content/plugins folder.
In order to rectify this you WILL not be able to go in through WordPress since it’s “bricked”. You will have to go in through a FTP program like FILEZILLA. You may need to get your account information for using FTP from your service provider. Once WordPress doesn’t find the folder, it will automatically de-activated all the plugins and you will be able to get back in.
You can avoid this in the future by disabling all plugins before you disable the Buddypress plugin.
I just tried this on WordPress 3.0 RC2 and Buddypress 1.2.4 and have exact same issue as @brett (3 weeks ago). If I type activity after the main url I can see the stream… Trying to upgrade to 3.0 to fix the timestamp issue with personal messages, but this issue is worse so re-loading back to 2.9.2 until this issue is resolved….
Def. am extremely eager to try this new Plugin….
In reply to: message timestamps are wrongOk got this back to the right section…
Original patch worked time wise the first time, then didn’t allow me to receive messages…
Tried altering the 7 files in the the 002 .diff file here: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2203
It ended stating that the messages sent were 10 years 6 months ago… Double checked to make sure I applied code correct.
Removed Code and now it’s back to saying private messeages, just sent, were sent 5 hours ago.In reply to: Change Group Tab TitlesThanks. I have had some problems grasping the concept of the child theme… I’ve read a number of codex articles on it, but still don’t get it. Is there a more easy to understand article you can point me to? Again. Thanks for your help with all of this.
In reply to: setting up my forumI think that is something that needs to be fixed in a BP next release update…
In reply to: setting up my forumI ran into s similiar issue when I installed the first time, If the Group was created before you added/installed the forum option, you will NEVER get a forum to show… My resolution was to Delete the group and re-make the group… Then the Forum options appeared within the group… don’t know if that helps…
