I read somewhere that @r-a-y might be adding support for other media to the oembed for BuddyPress plugin.

There’s a premium plugin, BP Gallery which can post images, audio, video to activity stream in addition to the regular single user and group galleries.

Spoke too soon …it’s bp_core_check_avatar_type() that is causing the problem, and exactly as you described.

@r-a-y I just checked the code, and in 0.1.8.x we’re directly calling wp_handle_upload() and it’s WordPress’s function that’s throwing the error …so at this point it looks like it’s *WordPress* that will not let you upload a file with capital letters in the extension (perhaps because of a new config parameter?) …more info as we continue […]

Just a note, If you changed the group slug you will need to alter this code where it says ‘groups’ to match.

@r-a-y, I did the same thing in Rich’s Signature plugin for forums, deleted the filter from 5, and it fixed it also.

is leaving it blank mean it’s at default?

I disabled Buddypress per @DJpaul ‘s suggestion, and @r-a-y ‘s followup post explains how to approach this.

@jakel I did ask the developer about being able to fill in the registration form, but his response was “only autoregistration is supported.
