That patch doesn’t have anything to do with themes in general so if you’re using a child theme, you should be good to go!
However, if you upgrade to BP 1.2.5.2, you will need to reapply the patch since that did not make it into the latest BP release.
-
I messed myself up and didn’t know it.. I had the timestamp working in 1.2.4 then I upgraded to 1.2.5 just today I found out it wasn’t working and connected the upgrade to 1.2.5 of writing over what I did in 1.2.4 … when I put this in again in 1.2.5.2 and if it works… that should be good confirmation of the patch….

@r-a-y – That is a reference to the current live site, which is built of of WordPress 2.7 (not WPMU). To build this new site (dev.neoncon.com) copied the DB and files to dev and did upgrades from there. So, those references, which only exit within posts, should be broken. The issue is with new uploads, specifically […]

@r-a-y – That .htaccess fixed the circular loop issue and appears to be getting us closer. But, now when I try to upload a new avatar, I get this error.
Upload Failed! Error was: The uploaded file could not be moved to /scratch/VHOSTS/neoncon.com/dev/public/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/group-avatars/4.
Another odd thing, you said the avatars are…[Read more] -

Re: install BP in a sub-blog – good to know defining sub-blog can be done either way 🙂 Thank you.

@r-a-y Hey @-r-a-y I got everything working with the registered plugin pieces… anyway you could make this a new plugin with the ability to include feeds or not and change the message like i’ve added on musicpln.org? I’d donate $5 U.S. for it to start… I don’t want to have to through all of that every upgrade and I really don’t understand…[Read more]

You should really be building a child theme since a child theme is never deleted when you upgrade BP.
Then you won’t have to worry about losing your code snippets on upgrade. If you have problems building a child theme, create a new thread on the forums and we’ll respond.

@r-a-y … I tried that full .htacess file and got a WSoD. I suspect something on the server side is causing the issue.

Seems like I could have added some kind of IF ~whatever the FEED function~ RETURN to the Registered Users Only 2 plugin and achieved the same thing… but I don’t know what the “whatever the FEED function” is to add… @r-a-y

@r-a-y I used your code suggestion and some that I found in Restrict User 2 With Viper’s original Restrict User Plugin Found here http://www.viper007bond.com/wordpress-plugins/registered-users-only/ because I wanted the site to be restricted to registered users only… still allow access to the login/activiate page and ALSO allow access to the…[Read more]

@r-a-y The second blog has another upload directory for itself. So it’s ok to have another blog. But what’s the problem with my root blog?

mercime posted on the forum topic Can BuddyPress work with Headway WP theme? in the group WordPress 3.0 + BuddyPress: 14 years, 4 months ago
What @r-a-y said. In addition, assuming current Headway version is compatible with WP 3.0 and you’re not in a rush to deploy, you might want to wait for BP 1.3 where BP components are rendered as regular WP Pages therefore allowing you to choose from the many “page leafs” available in a Headway theme. i.e. whether […]

@r-a-y I tried to move and edit .htaccess but nothing changed. When I upgraded BP 1.2.5, I refreshed the page and couldn’t see the avatars.
What else should I do?

@r-a-y Thanks.
I upgraded it last week and didn’t have any problem. I had the missing avatar problem today when I upgrade from 1.2.4.1 to 1.2.5

@r-a-y Ok. Ray everything works as you stated… the selected as selected works too… not the only problem is that when I select “no filter” it doesn’t show me “everything” it shows me the status updates… the other filters seems to work.
Pretty amazing work so far though…

Pisanojm posted an update 14 years, 4 months ago
@r-a-y Ray, I copied the code to the functions.php to see if I could get the default filter to be “show updates”… nothing happened… it didn’t break it, but it didn’t change it either… seems no dice… I can’t see any change at all.
-
I just tried the code. It works; it filters by default to activity updates only.
However, it doesn’t select the dropdown filter to “Show Updates”.You can manually change this by copying over /bp-default/activity/index.php to your child theme and editing the “Show Updates” filter to the following:
-
Grr… forgot that HTML tags are filtered! Try this:
[option value=”activity_update” selected=”selected”][?php _e( ‘Show Updates’, ‘buddypress’ ) ?][/option]
Replace square brackets with triangular ones.
-
ok, will try tomorrow…
