In reply to: Register.php broken; users can’t register
So you can’t even get past the registration page? A little odd how I can register and you and your friends can’t…
Try deleting your cache and cookies perhaps?
In reply to: Register.php broken; users can’t registerI didn’t do anything.
I filled out all the fields, then hit “Complete Signup”.
Then, I activated my user account.
Users have to activate their account via email after registration before they can even login.
In reply to: Changing Buddypress back to root blogDo you have BP activated on one blog or site-wide?
If BP is activated on one blog, deactivate BP on blog 83 as well as the BP-enabled theme from blog 83.
Redefine the BP root blog to 1. Activate BP on blog #1 and enable the default BP theme.
In reply to: Register.php broken; users can’t registerJust tried registering on your site and it works.
Received activation email and was able to login and post an activity update.
Don’t see any errors or problems.

You need to wrap that code in PHP open and close tags.
eg.
<?php
function my_bp_override_core_domain() {
$domain = get_bloginfo('url');
return $domain;
}
add_filter('bp_core_get_root_domain','my_bp_override_core_domain');

Increase your limit to 128MB or higher.

In reply to: BP core functions in bbpress?The other option is manually requiring /buddypress/bp-core.php after the wp-blog-header.php line in bb-config.php.
Not sure what will happen.
I’ve successfully used the BuddyBar functions before in a bbPress theme using deep integration and it worked for me…
In reply to: Bring a post in from another blogFound another plugin:
Vote2Republish:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/vote2publish/
Could probably modify the code to remove the voting part.
In reply to: BP core functions in bbpress?You could perhaps try using wp-load.php, instead of wp-blog-header.php.
In reply to: Bring a post in from another blogThere are a few options:
1) Featured Posts MU – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/featured-post-mu/ – uses a template tag that you can add to your homepage template or a widget.
2) BP Sitewide Featured Posts – http://dev.benoitgreant.be/blog/2009/11/buddypress-sitewide-featured-posts/ – uses a widget, but you could setup a widgetized frontpage and then you can use this widget. You could probably also modify the code to use it as a template tag.
[EDIT]
I misread your post, Wayne.
If you want the post’s content from another blog to reside on your main blog, you should think about making the user a contributor on your main blog. Then you won’t run into this issue.
In reply to: BP core functions in bbpress?Are you running WP or WPMU?
In reply to: move a post to main blog?Closing this thread as Wayne created another thread on the same topic.
Please post responses in the following thread:

In reply to: BP core functions in bbpress?You need to call WordPress into bbPress.
Add this to the top of your bb-config.php (right after the <?php line):
if ( !defined('ABSPATH') & !defined('XMLRPC_REQUEST')) {
define('WP_USE_THEMES', false) ;
include_once($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] . '/wp-blog-header.php');
header("HTTP/1.1 200 OK");
header("Status: 200 All rosy") ;
}Then you can use WP/BP functions in bbPress.
In reply to: Create a Site ForumYou have to add that line of code in wp-config.php otherwise how are you going to access your external bbPress folder if BuddyPress uses the same /forums/ slug as well?
I just want to say that by using the dual forum route, there are a few issues you should know:
– You’ll have to create a bbPress theme to match your WP/BP site
– Your users will be confused from a UI perspective – two points of entry for forums?
–> you’ll also run into other issues that I won’t list here for the sake of trying to simplify things
In reply to: group default avatarI’ve updated the code above… report back and see if it works.
In reply to: group default avatarTry the updated code snippet above, I’ve modified it.
Let me know if it doesn’t work.
In reply to: group default avatarDo not paste the code in bp-core-avatars.php.
Place it in either your theme’s functions.php or plugins/bp-custom.php.
In reply to: Create a Site ForumBack track.
Do you intend to use group forums? If not, login to the WP backend, navigate to “BuddyPress > Component Setup” and disable forums.
Then go back to your bbPress URL and install bbPress.

If the answer is “Yes”, then add the following to wp-config.php:
define ( 'BP_FORUMS_SLUG', 'group-forums' );Change ‘group-forums’ to anything you like, then proceed to yoursite.com/forums to install bbPress.
Keep in mind with this this approach, you’ll have two points of entry for forums.
The /group-forums/ URL (for BP group forums) and the /forums/ URL (for the bbPress forums).
If you want to keep things simple, just deactivate the forums component for BP.
In reply to: FAQ: How To, Code Snippets and SolutionsBuddyPress isn’t sending out emails (eg. activation emails, email notifications)
This appears to be a problem with certain web hosts (Bluehost primarily).
Members of the BP community have had success using the “Mail From” plugin:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mail-from/
Try this and reply in the following forum thread if it doesn’t work:

In reply to: group default avatar@etiviti (rich!)
I think that code would override uploaded group avatars as well.
What I think Jim and Suzette want is to define a default group avatar if an uploaded one doesn’t exist.
Updated code:
http://buddypress.pastebin.com/QSWtCJMb (updated July 16, 2010 – fix for group avatar on forum directory)
In reply to: group default avatarHook into the following filter:
bp_get_group_avatar
If there is no uploaded group avatar, then return your custom avatar in this filter.
