Where did you put your child theme?
You should put child themes in /wp-content/themes and not /plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/
In reply to: Conflict with wp-o-maticNo, you can probably still use WP-O-Matic, you just need to patch it to stop looking at BP pages.
In reply to: Conflict with wp-o-maticTry using FeedWordpress; it’s a more, robust solution than WP-O-Matic.
Did you enable pretty permalinks? (Settings > Permalinks)
Was a .htaccess file generated in the root of your WP install?
In reply to: how to link the logo-image ?Copy over /bp-themes/bp-default/header.php to your child theme and edit accordingly.
If you don’t have a child theme, read this:

In reply to: BuddyPress 1.2.2 registration emails? Please post an issue on Trac as soon as possible:

Use the same login credentials you use here on bp.org.
In reply to: BP 1.2.2 ready to go ?Appears so!
In reply to: Avatars / profile-picturesAvatars are not stored or referenced in the database.
In reply to: New WP-BP Install, /Forums Refuses To WorkDid you setup forums properly?
Login to the WP backend, navigate to “BuddyPress > Forums setup”, what does it say?
[EDIT]
Looks like my moderating buddy already answered your Q
You shouldn’t need to require anything since BP already loads it (if you have forums enabled).
You should be able to just grab the meta using one of the bbPress meta calls.
eg.
bb_get_postmeta(bp_get_the_topic_post_id(), $cachekey)Make sure when grabbing the meta that you do a check to see if you’re on a forum post.
In reply to: new version of BuddyPress Rate Forum PostsI recently came across a problem similar to @etiviti (rich!)’s.
In rate.php on line 3, you believe that bb-config.php will always reside in the root directory, but if you’re using an external bbPress integration, this won’t be the case.
The easy way to fix this is to grab the bb config location using:
get_site_option('bb-config-location');This would be for MU, not sure where the bb-config-location will be in standard WP.
[EDIT]
etiviti (rich!) already provided the solution!
Declare the global $bp and use $bp->site_options[‘bb-config-location’];
global $bp;
require_once($bp->site_options['bb-config-location']);In reply to: Threaded Comments / AvatarsPlugin doesn’t exist yet. I meant theoretically, a plugin could be built to enable threaded comments in the forums.
In reply to: Threaded Comments / Avatars“Settings > Discussion” is only applicable to WordPress blog comments.
BP doesn’t offer threaded comments in the forum.
It could be done via a plugin.
Not sure about the cropping avatar issue.
In reply to: BP1.2+ Plugin Wishlists@Ted Mann
Head on over to buddydev.com.
Brajesh just released a bunch of free plugins.
Download the CB-Addons plugin.
The old sitewide activity widget will be available, along with a couple of other widgets.
In reply to: Group Documents 0.3.0 ReleasedThank you sir!
In reply to: BP1.2+ Plugin WishlistsHere’s my modified code for Registered Users Only 2:
I didn’t spend much time on it, but it gets the job done.
I used this on WPMU and only activated the plugin on the blog where BP is installed; I don’t recommend activating this site-wide.
In reply to: display username in members directoryYes, it’s called manually going through the code

Try looking through the various bp-COMPONENT-templatetags.php files.
There’s also the codex – codex.buddypress.org – but it needs a little TLC.
In reply to: Accessing media redirects to 404 errorSometimes it’s the things we overlook

Glad you figured it out, Peter!
In reply to: Reply-comment on Forum-postsIf you’re reliant on max-width, then you’ll need to use the expression rule.
Boone, you are my hero!

@blogadera – I modified the code snippet above because I made a typo, try again please.
Your question isn’t really related to this thread.
But to answer your question, the “Site Wide Activity” does not exist in BP 1.2 I’m afraid.
It should be quite easy to recreate it though using the activity loop:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-activity-stream-loop/
Add to the “if” conditional.
<?php while ( bp_blogs() ) : bp_the_blog(); if(bp_get_blog_name() != "BLOG NAME YOU WANT TO EXCLUDE" && bp_get_blog_name() != "SECOND BLOG NAME TO EXCLUDE") : ?>If you have a ton of blogs, you might want to use an array.
In reply to: Simple customization questionNo need to edit a template file.
CSS is your friend. Find the element ID in question and use CSS to target it and add an icon.
If you’re using Firefox, use Firebug to help with this.
Here’s what I’m using in the interim.
Copy over /bp-default/blogs/blogs-loop.php to your child theme.
Modify the while line so it looks like:
<?php while ( bp_blogs() ) : bp_the_blog(); if(bp_get_blog_name() != "BLOG NAME YOU WANT TO EXCLUDE") : ?>You’ll also have to modify the blog count and pagination count so it reflects the number of blogs.
You can do this by applying a filter to bp_get_total_blog_count. For the pagination count, you’ll need to duplicate the function and replace the existing one.
It’s not the best solution, but it gets the job done for now.
An “exclude” parameter, like you noted above, would be ideal.
