In reply to: Whitescreen on Activation Key
Check your server error log and see what messages pop up in there.
There are numerous threads on this.
The basic steps are:
1) install an external version of bbPress
2) integrate it with WP(MU)
3) setup your forum categories in this external bbPress
3) theme it to match your site
In reply to: Editing Members ProfileThere’s a paid plugin by Buddydev.com called BP-Gallery, which would work on individual profiles.
It accepts video and audio, not so sure about PDFs and Word Docs… you could contact Brajesh on his site and ask him for such a feature.
In reply to: How to search other than members and groupsAre you talking about group forum post search?
That can be done at example.com/forums and using the search form there.
Unfortunately, activity stream search doesn’t exist at the moment.
In reply to: Forum topic posts listing templateHey stwc,
Here’s the file you’re looking for:
/bp-themes/bp-default/groups/single/forum/topic.php
Copy to your child theme and have fun!
In reply to: Remove “Activation” page on user registrationI’m going to paraphrase a line out of the iPhone ads:
“There’s a plugin for that!”
Check out this plugin by Brajesh Singh:
http://www.thinkinginwordpress.com/2009/10/autoactivate-users-and-blogs-at-buddypress-signup/
I think it needs to be updated for BP 1.2 though.
In reply to: Adding an author to the main admin blogAdd this as a bug on Trac:

Login with the same info you use here.
In reply to: bp_chat plugin by Dynamic EndeavorsPaid version removes the ads.
AFAIK, this chat plugin is the only one to support BP groups as well.
Some people like the look and feel of Facebook’s chat; there’s a whole thread dedicated to this here (if you’re interested):

In reply to: oEmbed for BuddyPress plugin – out now!You’ll have to register uStream and TED Video as handlers like @levin did
If you know a little code, you can make them both as embed handlers.
Here’s the code WP uses for PollDaddy as a guide:
function wp_embed_handler_polldaddy( $matches, $attr, $url, $rawattr ) {
return apply_filters( 'embed_polldaddy', '<script type="text/javascript" charset="utf8" src="http://s3.polldaddy.com/p/' . esc_attr($matches[1]) . '"></script>', $matches, $attr, $url, $rawattr );
}
wp_embed_register_handler( 'polldaddy', '#http://answers.polldaddy.com/poll/(d+)(.*?)#i', 'wp_embed_handler_polldaddy' );I still have to add WP_Embed support though, which I forgot to do!
—
I forgot to check for WP_Embed handlers that aren’t part of the default oEmbed class.
I’ve just got this working on my sandbox. This will work its way into the new version.

Looking at releasing v0.6 sometime next week. Sorry about the delay.
In reply to: Buddypress iPhone theme updateYou wouldn’t have to hack the core, it would be a filter.
We could probably check to see if a user is using an iPhone or mobile phone using this PHP library:
http://detectmobilebrowsers.mobi/
And then apply a filter to remove the view/delete links if it’s an iPhone.
In reply to: New plugin: BP Group ManagementI was saying “boourns”
In reply to: Upon login/registration redirect to Activity Stream?Use the older version then:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-redirect-to-profile/download/
In reply to: How to set members directory as startpageAlthough this isn’t related to the thread, use Brajesh’s BP Redirect to Profile plugin:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-redirect-to-profile/
You need to call $bp before you can actually do anything with it.
Before calling $bp, add:
global $bp;Btw, it looks like you’re either using an older version of BP or you’re using the BP Classic theme.
You should make any external changes in a child theme when possible.
In reply to: New plugin: BP Group ManagementBoone, you truly are the king of kings
In reply to: Buddypress iPhone theme updateCoolio! Did you figure out how to remove the view / delete links? Let me know if you need help with this.
is_site_admin() is the function but will probably be deprecated soon when WP 3.0 comes out.
Try this out:
<?php if ( is_user_logged_in() && !bp_is_my_profile() && function_exists( 'bp_send_private_message_link' ) && ( my_bp_is_friend() || is_site_admin() ) ) : ?>—
re: direct url to private message… you’ll have to modify the /bp-themes/bp-default/members/single/messages/compose.php file in your child theme to do a check for the username and if the logged-in user is friends with that username.
If the username is friends with the logged-in user, show the form to complete the message; if not a friend, don’t show the form.
I guess we need more testers!
In reply to: Some CSS troublesAre you talking about the spacing?
Try this instead:
form.dir-form div.dir-search {margin:-.6em 0 0 0 !important; width:auto !important;}There must be something else going on.
Don’t have time to debug, but you can override it in CSS.
Add this to your stylesheet:
span.highlight span {display:inline !important;}You might have to add a WP conditional like is_archive().
It’s a little bit weird why you’re getting the page slug in the current_component.
Could be because of the Hybrid theme you’re using. I’m not completely sure.
In reply to: Some CSS troublesAdd these to your theme’s stylesheet.
form.dir-form div.dir-search {margin:0 !important; width:auto !important;}I’d recommend using a web developer toolbar like Firebug for Firefox to debug these things.
What happens when you use the default /%year/%month%/%postname% permalink?
It’s probably because you have “groups” as your wordpress directory.
In wp-config.php, add this snippet:
define ( 'BP_GROUPS_SLUG', 'gatherings' );Change ‘gatherings’ to something you like.
This will make your new groups URL look like:
hxxp://urbansensors.net/projects/karmayog/groups/gatherings
You don’t have to.
Didn’t we want $bp->current_component to return blank for WP pages and posts?
That way you can just target BP pages like profiles, member directories, etc. because $bp->current_component returns something for them.
