In reply to: Removing Activiation
You’ll have to manually override MU’s email activation functions.
It’s not something you can turn off in the WPMU admin backend I’m afraid.
In reply to: Google AnalyticsI’m not the author of that plugin, but I’ve rewritten the code for it, it’s available here:

In reply to: iphone web appHi jschires,
I’m interested in that “Chat” button you have in your newest screenshots!
Just wondering what chat plugin you’re using.
In reply to: Soon to release bp group control pluginHey dpolant,
You should also know that Marius Ooms has attempted a port of BP Contents:
Maybe you guys can work together?

Jeff’s plugin isn’t ready for BP 1.2. He mentioned in his blog post (http://jeffsayre.com/2009/12/05/buddypress-privacy-component-released/) that he’s waiting for development to cease, or at least be stable enough, so he can begin adding compatibility for v1.2.
In reply to: external bbpress + buddypressI don’t think site wide activity would work if you’re using a fresh, external install of bbPress.
That would need to be coded probably as a bbPress plugin. I highly recommend deep integration between WPMU and bbPress so you can gain access to WP’s function within bbPress. Otherwise, you need to do specific calls to the database.
If you’re going with the latter approach, for hints, look into how Boone Gorges coded the MediaWiki plugin, which also writes to the sitewide activity stream.
In reply to: Analytics kills Dashboard with Blank pageSandeep didn’t wrap the open and close php tags properly…
Replace whatever is in his PHP file with this:
<?php
/*
Plugin Name: BP Analytics
Description: Do you even need this plugin?
Author: Whatever
Version: 1.0
*/
function bp_ga_analytics() {
?>
<script type="text/javascript">
var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
try {
var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-XXX");
pageTracker._trackPageview();
} catch(err) {}</script>
<?php
}
add_action('bp_after_footer', 'bp_ga_analytics');
?>In reply to: 404 page when trying to Create a Group / ForumCheck your .htaccess file and remove any custom error redirects you may have.
If that doesn’t work, try restoring the default .htaccess file that came with WPMU.
In reply to: Analytics kills Dashboard with Blank pageYes you’re right, netstay… I typed it on the fly and didn’t check for apostrophes!
Thanks!
In reply to: Analytics kills Dashboard with Blank pageOn the author’s plugin page, he says the plugin requires the BP bar, but it really doesn’t; it doesn’t hook into anything.
Here’s the proper way to have written the plugin:
function bp_ga_analytics() {
echo '<script type="text/javascript">
var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
try {
var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-5834099-9");
pageTracker._trackPageview();
} catch(err) {}</script>';
}
add_action('bp_after_footer', 'bp_ga_analytics');—
You can also use Andrea’s tutorial as well, the difference between Andrea’s and mine is I’m using the bp_after_footer action, and not the wp_footer action.
bp_after_footer shouldn’t hook into the admin dashboard as well, so this should be safe.
While it does function well, too bad WP eCommerce is poorly coded.
Look at the source, whitespace and lack of comments are terrible.
In reply to: Trying to stop spam emailCheck those lines in the error message for all files and debug.
Would there be a way to make plugin settings show up somewhere on member pages?
Yes, you can create a WP plugin with a settings page, then place that plugin in /wp-content/mu-plugins/ so it shows up on all WPMU blogs in the admin area.
EDIT: after re-reading this, you probably meant as a BuddyPress member settings page right? If so, don’t read the rest of this post!
Read up on how to create a settings page or use a WP plugin framework such as the one created by scribu:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/scb-framework/
For how to use options in the front end, you would use the get_option() function:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_option
That should get you started.
That’s an older version of the plugin.
WPMU Plugin Manager picks up the pieces where Plugin Commander left off.
Use this guide to install an external version of bbPress:
http://theeasybutton.com/blog/2009/07/17/integrating-buddypress-wordpress-mu-and-bbpress/
Definitely not BP core, since blogging is all WPMU.
You might want to look into modifying WPMU Plugin Manager:
http://wpmudev.org/project/wpmu-plugin-manager
I did mention the Supporter plugin from the previous thread, but you have to pay to get it:
In reply to: BuddyPress Editable Group SlugsI looked up T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM briefly yesterday; it’s something to do with the double-colons.
I commented out line 195 for now:
return $this_group::save();In reply to: New 1.2 SWA and Blog/Forum syncing: Feedback NeededJJJ, that’s what I had in mind (the latter portion of your post)!
In reply to: New 1.2 SWA and Blog/Forum syncing: Feedback NeededOriginally posted by D Cartwright:
I do think we need to have something to feed back comments to the original posting…
I suggested something similar to trackbacks, but for activity comments only. I’d call this “Community reactions” or something similar in that manner.
I guess it could technically be a trackback though…
In reply to: BuddyPress Editable Group SlugsThis plugin doesn’t remove the /groups/ base from the permalink.
It allows the group admin to change the group slug (which is autogenerated at the moment) to something a bit more palatable.
Eg.
domain.com/groups/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-fan-groupcould be changed to something shorter like:
domain.com/groups/tmnt-fan-groupor whatever!
In reply to: New 1.2 SWA and Blog/Forum syncing: Feedback NeededI think you’re misunderstanding what I want.
I actually do want forum and blog replies, but only on the original source and not in the AJAX activity comment stream (unless there’s a way we could sync them, like you mentioned above).
As far as the “group auto join” feature, that only happens when you go to the original group forum post to comment, not in the AJAX activity comment stream. You can’t join a group by commenting on a group item in the SWA stream.
In reply to: Forum Attachments for BuddyPressWhy don’t you use the original version of the plugin for bbPress?
In reply to: New 1.2 SWA and Blog/Forum syncing: Feedback NeededIt may be worth considering disabling comments on these items and instead providing a link to be able to comment at the location of the original content.
I would like to see a BuddyPress admin option to disable activity commenting for components we deem not worthy of having it. I would use this option for blog comments and forum posts.
Although the “live” aspect wouldn’t be fostered, we should only have one focused stream for blog comments and forum posts, rather than the original stream (blog comment, forum replies) and a multiple activity comment stream.
To Bowe, Mike and whoever else is reading, I put up a ticket with this issue awhile ago – https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/1419
Feel free to chime in.

The other issue raised by Mike of auto-joining a group on a forum reply is interesting. On testbp.org, I made a reply to a group forum post and thus, joined the group.
Then I visited my group activity stream and noticed these new group activity posts in my stream and said to myself “I don’t really want these items in my group stream!”.
So the issue is if you make a ton of group forum replies to groups that you’re not a member of, your personal group stream will become littered!
Mike, how do you plan on handling this on your BP site?
In reply to: BuddyPress Editable Group SlugsOkay some feedback (I know this is an early release, but bare with me!).
– When editing the group slug to an already-created group, the current slug should be automatically populated in the text field
– Allow for templates in the theme directory to be used
– I’m getting this error:
function BP_Group_Extension::widget_display() must be over-ridden in a sub-class.This error pops up right after the group members loop. Parsing stops after the error. I don’t see the group wire.
This is the steps I made to duplicate this:
– Create a new group up to step 1, exit the rest of the group creation process.
– View any group and the error appears.
Deactivating the plugin reverts things to normal.
In reply to: BuddyPress Editable Group SlugsSweet! Definitely need this! Thanks JJJ!
JJJ: Can I recommend changing the word “slug” to “url”? The word “slug” doesn’t really make sense to the end-user.

EDIT: Just tried installing this on WPMU 2.8.5.2 / BP 1.1.2, got this error when activating:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM in /var/www/example.com/wp-content/plugins/bp-edit-group-slug/bp-groupslugs.php on line 195I see you’ve left in this bit of code for a future version, so I’ve just commented this out for now.
