Hi,
Thanks for posting. Are you using an older version of WordPress?
In BP 2.3.3, we added support for WordPress 4.3 in the Activity and Groups dashboards without checking for older WordPress installs.
This is how the fatal error occurred.
To fix this temporarily until we release a new version, apply this patch to BuddyPress:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/attachment/ticket/6606/6606.01.patchIn reply to: bp_verify_nonce_request() not workingI’ve created a ticket about this bug here:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/6528This should be fixed for v2.4, which is tentatively scheduled for an autumn release.
In the meantime, you could use the
'bp_verify_nonce_request_url'filter to remove the double port number, which should temporarily fix the issue. In reply to: WP does emoji, BP does not? Thanks for the report.
I’ve created a ticket about this here:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/6529BP will better support emojis after we’ve upgraded our database schema to support utf8mb4.

In reply to: bp_verify_nonce_request() not working@dineshravajani07 – Thanks! We’re getting somewhere!
Under the
/** Requested URL *****section, can you change:if ( isset( $parsed_home['port'] ) ) { $request_host = $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] . ':' . $_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'];to:
if ( isset( $parsed_home['port'] ) ) { $request_host = $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] . ':' . $_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'];I have a feeling that will fix things for you.
In reply to: BuddyPress Basic Understanding Questions1) Yes
2) The same as the default user level you set up in WordPress. By default, this should be the ‘subscriber’ role.
3) https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/register-and-activation-pages/
4) BuddyPress does not come with a bundled login page. It uses WP’s default wp-login.php page. You can find plugins on the wordpress.org repo to modify the login page to your liking.
In reply to: bp_verify_nonce_request() not working@dineshravajani07 – Thanks for the debugging so far.
Can you add this line:
var_dump( $matched_url, $home_url );Above the
// Nonce check failed lineand post the results? In reply to: bp_verify_nonce_request() not working@dineshravajani07 – Are you able to debug whereabouts in the function it is returning false?
Can you add this line before the
// Nonce check failedline in thebp_verify_nonce_request()function located in/bp-core/bp-core-functions.php:var_dump( $result, $action, strpos( $matched_url, $home_url ) !== 0 );Run the function and then let us know what the output is.
This should work:
function my_remove_secondary_avatars( $bp_legacy ) { remove_filter( 'bp_get_activity_action_pre_meta', array( $bp_legacy, 'secondary_avatars' ), 10, 2 ); } add_action( 'bp_theme_compat_actions', 'my_remove_secondary_avatars' );Untested, but let me know if it works!
In reply to: bp_verify_nonce_request() not working@nithin270 @dineshravajani07 – Please help us debug
bp_verify_nonce_request():
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/2.3.1/src/bp-core/bp-core-functions.php#L2005Judging by what you are doing, it appears that function is returning false.
Can you debug that function and find out whereabouts the function is failing for you?
Are your sites behind a reverse proxy?
In reply to: Maximum number of usersThere’s a ticket about this here:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3789View the comments in that ticket for some approaches that you can take. If you need some hooks in BuddyPress to make this happen, let us know by replying to that ticket. Login using the same credentials as you use here on buddypress.org.
You could also think about using Gravatar and disabling avatar uploads as well. It’s probably not a valid option for your site, but just making sure you know! 🙂
In reply to: Messages Excerpts in Admin Bar NotificationsYou’ll have to create your own messages adminbar menu.
You can create a new menu item using:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_nodeOr if you’re not using the WP Adminbar and have hardcoded that menu by yourself, you do not have to do anything.
Next, I would probably use JS to load the messages loop when you click on the “Messages” adminbar icon with AJAX.
It’s working for me.
Where are you putting the
add_filter()line?Your problem sounds like it’s caused by a variety of copy-and-pasted code snippets.
Add the following to
wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.phpor your theme’s functions.php:add_filter( 'bp_is_messages_star_active', '__return_false' );In reply to: Groups editing not savingAdding members to groups from wp-admin is not working at all. I believe all the changes in the wp-admin done to groups (for the moment I tested add members and change privacy settings) are not committed to the DB.
This is working for me.
If you have any error logs, that would be great.
Remove the first call to:
bp_core_load_template( apply_filters( 'bp_core_template_plugin', 'members/single/plugins' ) );Yes, you need to install bbPress in order to have forum functionality within BuddyPress groups.
View this guide:
@dono12 – I have split your post into a separate thread.
About the “Starred” feature, do you mean the star private messages feature that you can access under “Messages > Starred”? If not, then this isn’t related to any change in BuddyPress 2.3.0.
Your issue doesn’t sound like it is related to the Messages component, so can you clarify?
In reply to: Members Directory Page Broken After Update@jturet – You can make this corresponding change to
/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-catchuri.phpfor now until v2.3.1 is released:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/9916/branches/2.3/src/bp-core/bp-core-catchuri.phpIn reply to: Login Fields Do Not Display- Cannot Access AnythingOther troubleshooting threads recommend turning off certain plug-ins, but I can’t do any of these things without access to the dashboard.
You can disable plugins manually by renaming the plugin folders under
/wp-content/plugins/and then navigating back to the homepage. Next, you should be able to go back to the admin dashboard. Remember to rename the plugin folders back to the way they were.In reply to: Friend Request Loop StuckThe only way an email keeps coming through is if the friend request is made consecutively. Can you confirm that there are multiple friend requests from the same user in the database table?
If you are familiar with checking the database (with phpMyAdmin, Adminer or whatever), please check the
wp_bp_friendstable and see if there are multiple records for the requested friendship. In reply to: BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG stops activate workingCan you try the patch in this ticket?
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/6371In reply to: Fatal Error When Plugin activatedLooks like it is a problem with your theme.
Does this error occur if you switch your theme to the WP default theme, twentyfifteen?
The simple thing here is to remove all your custom code snippets that are interacting with the activity stream.
In your original post, I see you’re using this:
remove_filter( 'bp_after_has_activities_parse_args', 'ray_bp_display_comments_stream', 20 );Which means you have a function called
ray_bp_display_comments_stream()somewhere which is causing the singular activity comment entries to display. In reply to: Group with multiple forums?Groups are a BuddyPress thing are they not?
I am requesting that the Group Forum selector in the Group Forum Settings in BuddyPress be able to support more than one forum NOT forums supporting multiple groups.
Yes, but BuddyPress doesn’t do anything with the bbPress plugin. bbPress integrates itself into BuddyPress. bbPress handles all the BuddyPress group integration.
What you’re requesting should be a bbPress feature.
In reply to: Group with multiple forums? The bbPress plugin integrates into BuddyPress, not the other way around.
So your question is best suited on the bbPress forums:
https://bbpress.org/forumsI can tell you that multiple group forums are not officially supported in bbPress at the moment though.
You’ll want to keep your eye on this ticket:
