Try removing the `redirect_to_forum()` function. That’s an older code snippet that doesn’t work properly in newer versions of BP.
Are you using the bp-default theme? If you are, are you using a customized homepage template?
Try disabling all your plugins except BuddyPress and see if you are able to see the register link afterwards.
In reply to: How to remove Buddypress Activity Page TabsIf you’ve created a child theme of bp-default, copy and paste the
/activity/index.phptemplate to your child theme.Next, open up this file and remove the various li entries for All Members, My Favorites and @mentions. This should remove the tabs from the activity directory page.
In reply to: Post sticky in all group forums with one topicUnfortunately, this isn’t possible by default; it would require custom development.
The easiest way to achieve what you want is to create one group forum topic in a specific group. Then, modify your group forum template (/groups/single/forum.php or /forums/forums-loop.php depending on where you want the link displayed) to manually add a link to this topic.
In reply to: widgets and sidebarDo widgets show up in the sidebar when you disable the Widgets Controller plugin?
In reply to: Blank tabLooks like a problem with the bp-album plugin.
Check to see if bp-album has an update. If not, contact the plugin developers about the issue.
In reply to: How do I make custom profile urls?Agreed with Roger.
You would have to do two things:
* modify the registration template (/registration/register.php) to remove the username field.
* modify the registration validation routine to use the first and last name as the username. If you’re already familiar with WordPress development, the appropriate function to look at is bp_core_validate_user_signup().In reply to: Installed but did not create sub-directoriesDid you install WordPress in a subdirectory at mdacintranet/wordpress/?
If so, have you read this codex article?
https://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_DirectoryIn reply to: threaded forum posts ?Hi tjtate, this forum thread is over 10 months old. When you see an old thread that hasn’t been answered in awhile, it’s better to just create a new topic.
To quickly answer, when bbPress 2.0 is more tightly integrated with BuddyPress groups, it might be possible to use an existing bbPress 2.0 plugin with BuddyPress when that time comes. Until then, you probably won’t see threaded forum posts.
I’m going to close this thread now, but feel free to post new topics in the future.
In reply to: New topics showing in more than one forumSounds like the DB import might have affected something.
Can you try using a fresh DB? Try creating a few new groups and group forums and see if you can duplicate the issue.
In reply to: Re-add the standard avatar classesCool, glad you figured out how to use the filter!
In reply to: Capabilities Link not working –It looks like you’re using a customized theme. That theme will probably need to be updated to add the new “capabilities.php” template.
Try to contact the theme dev and talk to them about copying:
`/members/single/settings/capabilities.php`from the bp-default theme to their theme.
@jwordsmith – Sorry if you were confused during the forum installation.
You shouldn’t have to click on “Use existing installation”. Try clicking on the “Uninstall group forums” button and then click on “Install Group Forums”.
Hopefully that fixes your issue.
Have you deactivated all other BuddyPress plugins and custom code snippets? If so, try adding this code snippet to your wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php:
`remove_action( ‘bp_template_redirect’, ‘bp_redirect_canonical’, 2 );`
This will remove the canonical redirect hook that might be causing you some issues.
In reply to: How To Limit in creating GroupsYou guys might want to look at this plugin for inspiration:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-restrict-group-creation/In reply to: NotificationsUnfortunately, at the moment, you’re correct.
Good news is there’s a plugin you can use for that:
https://github.com/sbrajesh/bp-activity-comment-notifierIn reply to: Edit AvatarYou would need to use a PHP code widget like:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/php-code-widget/Use extreme caution when using such a widget. If you’re the only person that is able to access the Widgets page on your site, then you should be fine.
Btw, a shorter way to write that code is:
“
Hi,
What happened after the activation procedure? Blank screen?
Do you have access to your server’s error log? If so, what does it state in there? If not, navigate to your /wp-content/plugins directory and rename the “buddypress” to something else. Next, try accessing wp-admin again.
In reply to: how to remove admin bar entirely from site@charlietech – Trying copying the code below:
`add_filter( ‘show_admin_bar’, ‘__return_false’ );`
Sometimes quotes get converted into other characters, which is why the code snippet wasn’t working for you.
In reply to: CSS Repositorybp.org probably wouldn’t host such a thing, but I can imagine some BuddyPress fan site implementing such a feature!

Until then, you can host your CSS code and sample HTML on Jsbin.com for easy previewing.
In reply to: [Resolved] Blog Pagination Solution? You would probably find a better answer on the wordpress.org support forums, but I’ve used WP PageNavi in the past:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-pagenavi/This issue was caused by a plugin called BuddyPress Activity Comment Notifier.
An update was just released by Brajesh, the plugin author, here:
https://github.com/sbrajesh/bp-activity-comment-notifierBuddyPress is a plugin. Did you activate it?
If so, did you setup BuddyPress afterwards?
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-buddypress-components/If you’re using Genesis, you’ll also need the Genesis theme compatibility plugin called Genesis Connect:
http://www.studiopress.com/plugins/genesis-connectIf you don’t want to use that paid version, you can try using the free BP Template Pack plugin:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-template-pack/Although, it should be stated that Genesis Connect is probably better suited as it should integrate with your Genesis theme seamlessly, while BP Template Pack will give you a generic look that might not gel with your theme and might require some CSS and template tinkering to get it just the way you want.
