Try uninstalling / removing your CDN version of jQuery so it reverts to WordPress’ version of jQuery. See if that fixes things.
In reply to: Admin Bar not showing upRemove both code snippets and see if the WP Toolbar shows up.
In reply to: [Resolved] Buddypress 1.6 how to enable navbar ?Please read the bottom of this codex article:
I’m guessing you have a rogue code snippet that is overriding BuddyPress’ avatar code.
Check your theme’s functions.php file located at /wp-content/YOUR-THEME/functions.php also check /wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php. Look for any code snippet that references avatars. Can you find any?
Also check any BuddyPress plugins you may have.
In reply to: Group vs Forum and notificationstestbp.org uses both the BuddyPress and the bbPress plugins.
bbPress has its own built-in forum subscription feature; BuddyPress does not have a group forum subscription feature built-in.
However, there is a BuddyPress plugin that enables members to subscribe to a group – BP Group Email Subscription:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-email-subscription/In reply to: How do mentions work@mentions work the way you intended them to; they leave a notification in the WP Toolbar for the user and concurrently notifies the user via email.
If you want something more immediate and Facebook-like, use Brajesh Singh’s Live Notification plugin:
http://buddydev.com/uncategorized/introducing-buddypress-live-notification-plugin-a-facebook-like-notification-plugin-for-buddypress/Might need updating.
In reply to: What happened to our avatars?@james_loudon – I was just re-reading your post and I think I know what you are experiencing.
Login to the WP dashboard and navigate to “Settings > Discussion”.
Scroll down to “Default Avatar” and select the avatar you want to use for members that do not have an uploaded avatar.
In reply to: 404 pages on child pages in 1.6@rodtrent – Disable all 3rd-party plugins you are using except BuddyPress – this includes JetPack, BP Gallery, etc. Next, change your theme to the bp-default theme. Now, retry your BP pages. Does your problem still occur?
In reply to: FYI: JetPackThis problem and your Windows Live Writer issue is related to your 404 problem. Can you try and restrict your posts to one topic?
This is to avoid numerous topics on the same issue.
Thanks!
@notpoppy – For this line:
`if ( groups_get_groupmeta( $bp->groups->current_group->id, ‘settings_complete’ ) )`
You could probably change that to do your check against group ID
eg.
`if ( bp_get_group_id() == MY_GROUP_ID )
return true;
elseif ( bp_get_group_id() == ANOTHER_GROUP_ID )
return true;
else
return false;
`etc.
If you want to do your check by group name, try using `bp_get_group_name()` in place of `bp_get_group_id()`.
This is untested, but hopefully this gives you a few ideas to work with.
In reply to: Membership Numbers differ since 1.6 update@bakelady – In BP 1.6, the member count behavior changed to reflect the active users on your site and not total members.
To revert this behavior, can you try this code snippet in /wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php?
`add_filter( ‘bp_get_total_member_count’, ‘bp_core_get_total_member_count’ );`
If you don’t have a file located at /wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php, follow the tutorial available here:
https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/bp-custom-php/Let me know if this works for you.
@dacai – It sounds like these shortcodes rely on javascript to work.
There maybe a conflict between your plugin’s javascript, BuddyPress’ javascript and/or your theme’s javascript (assuming you are not using a variant of the bp-default theme).
I would try to find out the culprit by debugging the javascript with your browser’s developer tool.
If you’re using Firefox, try installing Firebug.
Here’s a video tutorial on how to use Firebug:
http://www.dev4press.com/2010/tutorials/wordpress/various/use-firebug-to-track-ajax-requests-and-responses/Once you have it installed, turn on the Firebug console and reload your page. If there are errors, the Firebug console will tell you which javascript files are failing.
In reply to: What happened to our avatars?By 2010 install, do you mean BuddyPress v1.2.x or older?
If so, you need to upgrade in stages.
Check out the “Upgrading BuddyPress” codex article for more details:
https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/upgrading-buddypress/I should note this is an arduous task that will probably require a lot of troubleshooting and debugging.
As always, you should test this on a development server and not on your live site.
In reply to: 404 pages on child pages in 1.6@k12onos – The .zip download for BP 1.5.7 can be found here:
https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/buddypress.1.5.7.zipDo not install this on top of BP 1.6. Please try duplicating your problem on a fresh install.
On my local testing on both BP 1.5.7 and BP 1.6, I was able to duplicate your problem. But I believe, the intention was that you shouldn’t nest a component page within a component page and you should follow the method I suggested by creating a “dummy page” as you say.
Let me know.
@rodtrent – I am unable to duplicate your problem. If you have a backup, I suggest reverting back to that and retry your upgrade by following these instructions:
In reply to: 404 pages on child pages in 1.6@k12onos – I have confirmed your problem. This bug occurs when you try to use the Activity page as the parent for the Members, Groups and Forums pages.
To temporarily fix this problem, create a new page with a new slug (eg. /community/) and then for your Members, Groups and Forums pages, select this new page as the parent.
Can you confirm that your old behavior worked in BP 1.5?
In reply to: Best Install How-toHi, thanks for considering BuddyPress!
Check out the codex’s “Getting Started” page; view the sidebar for child pages (particularly the first three links).
If you find you need help, please ask.
bmk0220 – Yeah, I found that the admin option to revert back to the BuddyBar doesn’t exist after upgrade. I will post a new ticket about this now.
Regarding bp-custom.php, I already mentioned this in the other thread, but I’ll mention it again for any other people reading. It’s supposed to exist in wp-content/plugins/.
Please view the codex article on what bp-custom.php is and how to create the file:
https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/bp-custom-php/Edit: – Thanks shawn38 for posting!
In reply to: Transitioning from 1.5.x to 1.6@bmk0220 – mrjarbenne was incorrect; bp-custom.php belongs in /wp-content/plugins/. You need to wrap the code with opening and closing PHP tags. Read the corresponding article here:
https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/bp-custom-php/—
Sorry guys, I meant to close this thread to prevent replies and that’s what I’m going to do now. Please create new topics for your support questions. Thanks everyone!
In reply to: 1.6 admin bar with 1.5.7Yes, it’s possible.
Add the following code snippet in your /wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php:
`add_filter( ‘bp_use_wp_admin_bar’, ‘__return_true’ );`
@mr_zog – There hasn’t been any significant changes to the bp-default theme since 1.5.7. What version of BP 1.5 were you using before?
Looks like you have narrowed this down to a child theme issue. Unfortunately, it’s hard to debug what’s happening. Are you using the “bp_is_current_component()” function in anyway? Did you disable the Extended Profiles component?
Try to pinpoint what pages this error shows up on and then figure out which custom template file is causing the problem.
I’m not sure how your site is supposed to look or function, but I am able to access your BuddyPress pages:
http://malecondans.no/samfunn/aktivitet/
http://malecondans.no/samfunn/medlemmer/About the double line at the top, try disabling the WP Toolbar with the code snippet listed here:
Can you make sure that your BuddyPress pages are setup properly?
Login to the WP admin dashboard and navigate to “Settings > BuddyPress“. Then, click on “Pages“:
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-buddypress-components/#bp-pagesDid you upgrade properly?
Try this plugin instead:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-registration-groups-1/It’s not as outdated as the one linked by karmatosed and should work. If it doesn’t, please inform the plugin developer.
In reply to: Google AnalyticsBuddyPress is a WordPress plugin, so try looking for any WordPress Google Analytics plugin:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tags/google-analyticsIf you’re looking for customized, advanced, Google Analytics data for BuddyPress that use custom variables and event tracking, I don’t believe one exists at the moment and will have to be custom-developed.
