In reply to: Register Page – Limit Number of Profile Fields Shown
If you create a new xprofile group, then you could move some of those profile fields to these new groups and it won’t show up on the registration page.
To create a new xprofile group, login to the WP admin dashboard and navigate to “BuddyPress > Profile Fields” page. Next, click on the “Add New Group” button located in the header text.
In reply to: BuddyPress wipes out WordPress cache? For a workaround, to stop BP from purging WP Super Cache, add the following in your theme’s functions.php:
`remove_action( ‘wp_login’, ‘bp_core_clear_cache’ );`In reply to: Conditional AvatarsSince you’re using:
`add_filter( ‘bp_core_fetch_avatar_no_grav’, ‘__return_true’ );`You can also define your mystery man image with:
http://pastebin.com/AST92STzFor LINKTOYOURIMAGE.gif, try making it a transparent GIF. That’s probably the best you can do at the moment.

Also, a ticket was just brought up to add CSS classes to avatars:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3922Keep an eye on that one.
In reply to: Error Autocomplete Private MessagingIf you’re having trouble with autocomplete even with the friends component enabled, then there’s something wrong. I’m guessing you’re not using the bp-default theme?
Regarding the old snippet I posted, you don’t need that any more to get autocomplete working without the friends component.
Just add the following to your theme’s functions.php or /wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php:
`define( ‘BP_MESSAGES_AUTOCOMPLETE_ALL’, true );`
In reply to: Filter activity stream by oembedIt’s doable, @dnxpert and @djpaul.
When there’s an oEmbed item in the activity stream, there’s usually some accompanying meta saved in the activity meta table.
You’ll want to hook into the filters available in BP_Activity_Activity::get() (located in /bp-activitiy/bp-activity-classes.php)
Specifically, you’ll want to do a LEFT JOIN with the activity meta table (wp_bp_activity_meta) and do a search for “meta_key” that beings with “_oembed_”.
If I can get myself around to it, it will be in my oft-delayed oEmbed plugin update.
In reply to: has bp-core-signup.php moved in 1.5?Also check out /plugins/buddypress/bp-members/bp-members-signup.php.
That’s where most of the refactored code is.
This is a template issue.
Open up your /wp-content/themes/YOUR-THEME/groups/single/forum/topic.php template.
Look for this line:
` `And delete it.
Also delete the corresponding “ line.
In reply to: Forums not workingWere the 7 tables created?
In reply to: Registrations fields – Already filled in? [Resolved]In reply to: Removing tooltip showing the nameThere’s two ways you can do this.
1) Filter the avatar output
Try adding the following to your theme’s functions.php.
Disclaimer: Untested!
`
add_filter( ‘bp_core_avatar_title’, ‘__return_false’ );
add_filter( ‘bp_core_avatar_alt’, ‘__return_false’ );
`2) Use javascript
You can also dynamically remove the title and alt text via javascript if desired. In reply to: Private Messaging Error 404Switch to the bp-default theme to see if you get the 404 error with PMs.
In reply to: Add Friend FATAL ERRORPaul means if the “Account Settings” component is disabled or not.
In reply to: Limit comment amount kinda like facebook. There’s some patches available here:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2587You’ll have to play around with the code a bit since it’s been awhile since those patches were created.
Not sure. You might want to bring it up with the authors of the plugin here:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-group-email-subscription/forum/You might also want to try WP Better Emails about making WP emails HTML-compatible:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-better-emails/Bonus is it allows you to style the email template. Not sure how that gels with the digests in the Group Email Subscription plugin.
In reply to: Registration No Longer WorkingI was able to sign up successfully as “raytest”.
One thing I encountered on my first try is it would redirect me to die-spammers.com.
I’m guessing you have a snippet in your .htaccess that does this.In reply to: Multisite BloggingYou’re correct to assume that.
If you’re not using multisite, you can choose to track blog posts and comments on your regular WP install with the “Site Tracking” setting.
In reply to: Registration No Longer WorkingWe’re not really supporting BP 1.2.x any more, but anyway:
Are you using a plugin called “BuddyPress Registration Options”? If so, try deactivating that and see if your registration page works again.
HTML format is only sent on digests (Daily Digest, Weekly Digest).
Tell your designer to check out this article to upgrade your theme:
https://codex.buddypress.org/releases/1-5-developer-and-designer-information/#themeIn reply to: members search not working (resolved)Using the latter option would work as well – having your form submit your search term directly to the members directory.
That’s probably the easiest thing to do.
In reply to: widesite forum page wont show upDid you try deleting the “Forums” page that the group forums installation created in the WP dashboard under “Pages”?
In reply to: widesite forum page wont show upOkay, try uninstalling group forums and delete the page associated with it. (This is usually the /forums/ page).
Next, re-run the sitewide forums install. What happens?
In reply to: 404 errorsFor the “Settings” 404 issue, since you’re running a custom theme, did you upgrade from BP 1.2.x?
If so, you’ll probably want to read this:
https://codex.buddypress.org/releases/1-5-developer-and-designer-information/#themeIn reply to: members search not working (resolved)You’ll probably want to pass your search term from your form into your own members loop with the “search_terms” parameter:
