In reply to: Setting Activity as BP home page.
Custom permalink structure shouldn’t matter, but have you tried resaving the permalink settings?
Also try disabling any plugins that might interfere with this. Including redirect and caching plugins.As a last resort, you can always create a page template copying exactly what is in /buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/activity/index.php and setting that as the front page…
In reply to: change nav content when on member profile page.bp_is_member() returns true if you’re on a member’s profile page.
Try that in your header.
In reply to: missing stylesheetMake sure you have a /bp-themes/bp-default/ folder complete with stylesheet in your /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/ folder.
If you don’t, manually reupload the BuddyPress plugin to your /wp-content/plugins/ folder:
In reply to: Adding action in global.js ?Use wp_deregister_script():
https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_deregister_scriptThere are a bunch of tutorials out there.
Here’s one:
In reply to: Setting Activity as BP home page.Depending on your BP version, have you tried upgrading BuddyPress?
Also try to resave your permalink settings:
https://codex.buddypress.org/troubleshooting/navigation-links-return-404-errors/I have activity stream set as frontpage on a secondary blog on my test install.
Works fine.In reply to: Automatically join groupsWelcome Pack should allow you to automatically join users to groups the site admin defines when their account is activated.
Be sure to read the following as well when using Welcome Pack to force users to groups:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/standard-group-for-new-users/#post-69096—
Besides, if you attempt to post to a forum topic that you’re not a member of, you will automatically join that group when you reply to that forum thread.
In reply to: Blog Plugin NOT MUmercime, thanks for adding that extra info! Forgot to write about WP roles and frontend posting!
@hnla – I think that works for now.
In reply to: Blog Plugin NOT MUBuddydev.com has a group blog plugin that takes advantage of standard WP’s blog categories:
http://buddydev.com/buddypress/blog-categories-for-groups-plugin/Something similar could be put together like that for members instead of groups.
In reply to: Display Number of Users OnlineHere’s a quick snippet you can add in your theme’s functions.php:
`function ray_number_online_users() {
$i = 0;if ( bp_has_members( ‘user_id=0&type=online&per_page=999&populate_extras=0’ ) ) :
while ( bp_members() ) : bp_the_member();
$i++;
endwhile;
endif;return $i;
}`Then you can use it in a template like:
`if ( function_exists( ‘ray_number_online_users’ ) ) echo ray_number_online_users();`

*Sidenote: code could be better. I just modified the code from the online widget.
To add a friend, simply navigate to a member profile you want to become friends with and click on the “Add Friend” button. The requested member gets an email notification asking whether or not to accept the friendship.
Please go and test BuddyPress thoroughly on http://testbp.org, then come back here for any help.

For blogs, you need to enable WordPress’ network mode:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_NetworkWhen you have that setup, BuddyPress automatically detects this and adds a blog directory. There should be a button to create a blog on that page as well as on the registration page.
(Sidenote: me thinks we need a BP codex article to setup the blogs component)

To customize the welcome email, try Paul Gibbs’ Welcome Pack plugin:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/welcome-pack/@zomex – If you’re trying to override the adminbar CSS on the subblog, create a file called:
`/wp-content/themes/_YOURTHEME_/_inc/css/adminbar.css`And copy the styles from bp-default’s adminbar.css. Then you can customize the styles to your heart’s content.
In reply to: Can members use forum without groups?According to JJJ, the new bbPress plugin will work well with BuddyPress 1.3; BP 1.3 is scheduled to come out sometime in the New Year.
In reply to: RSS feed of forum topics?You could probably use Boone’s plugin as a guide to create the RSS feed.
A RSS feed could be created with an activity stream loop that targets group forum topics.You can also check out /buddypress/bp-activity/feeds/ and /buddypress/bp-activity.php to see how BuddyPress does it.

New plugin: BuddyPress No Mentions
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-no-mentions/Enjoy!
In reply to: User/Group avatar URL *without* IMG tagIf you need to stay on BP 1.2.4, you could probably just copy the part of the bp_core_fetch_avatar() function that adds support for the ‘html’ parameter… but I’d strongly suggest upgrading when you have the chance.
See the codex article on upgrading:
https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/upgrading-buddypress/In reply to: User/Group avatar URL *without* IMG tagTry this:
`bp_core_fetch_avatar( ‘html=false’ );`Be sure to check out the full parameters for the function in bp-core-avatars.php.
In reply to: new user registration problem..In reply to: Feature Request : Topics of Groups I joined@tubruk – You can define multiple forum ids by separating the IDs by comma.
eg.
“
I just tested this and it works great!
In reply to: Annoying ‘high five’You must have installed the BP skeleton component. Please disable it if you don’t plan on creating a plugin.
@auphoria – Review how to create a functions.php file in your theme’s folder:
https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/functions-php/Then add the code snippet in between the PHP tags.
@suman – re: https://buddypress.org/community/activity/p/114823/
If index.php does not exist, copy index.php from /buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/ to your bp-columns theme directory and modify as needed.
In reply to: How to create Semi-Private groups?As noted in the ticket:
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/1125#comment:3It should be possible by creating a plugin.
If you have a little WordPress experience, check out /buddypress/bp-groups.php for all the necessary hooks and filters to start work on the plugin.In reply to: Renaming components.To change the slugs, read this:
