In reply to: How to change “username” to “email-address” ?
yeh, DJPaul is right, create a child theme. It’s easy than you may think of it.
In reply to: Who’s online bugCan you point to the site/page where the widget is active. May be It can help in finding the issue.
In reply to: How to change “username” to “email-address” ?take a look at header.php if you are using bp1.1.3 , check bp-sn-parent/header.php if you are using bp1.2 with new default theme, look at bp-default/header.php
The code is there, you have to make some small change .
In reply to: Old Filters on Activity Pagedo you have access to Datbase, you can use phpmyadmin or any other database management tool to check this table and remove irrelevant entries.
That’s right. so you know the reason now and the best thing is you know how much useful this child theme could be.
You can unregister the sidebars from parent which you don’t want to use in the child, but I don’t remember exactly will it work in current wp or not, earlier version was having some issue when you try to unregister a parent theme widget area from child theme.
I will go with Child themes functions.php for registering specific sidebar for a child theme.
It will be more flexible and specific to the child theme.
What issues you encounter while using child theme’s functions.php.
In reply to: Creating a component (Similar to a Group)Take a look at bp-events.
It is based on Group component, modified to become events.
In reply to: BP 1.2 : \”bp_filter_request is not defined\”this is a scope and closure issue.
the function will not be avilable outside the closure it was defined.It has a local scope in global.js.
your better option would be copy it and define in your file until Andy puts it in the global scope.
In reply to: Who’s online bugThis is most probably a css issue not a bug with the bp 1.1.3.
Are you using the widget with default buddypress theme or some other theme.
If you are using different theme, you will have to style the widget yourself(may be some copy paste can help from bp default theme’s css).
In reply to: Group Admin, title change.well,It is coming from database I hope so.
You can see it in the table ‘wp_bp_groups_members’
That field of your interest in the table is “user_title”
Hope it helps.
Thanks

In reply to: Photo Albums…. omfg!!I am sorry if you got confused by buddydev.com for budypress. I will like to know, where you got the feeling that Buddypress is charging?,I have made it a clear point on the membership page of my site that It is NOT associated with buddypress.org, still if there is something confusing, that must be removed.
BuddyPress is not chargin anything,It is free(as already mentioned above),
Yes, I am charging a membership fee for access premium plugins on my site(and this preticular plugin will be available to you as free within 3-6 months as mercime already pointed.)I have already promised this in another thread here, I am sorry you still got confused.
Just wait for few months, I am sure, I will put it as free on/before bp 1.3 comes out.
Thanks
Brajesh
In reply to: Group Avatars, how to change the defaultThe code for fetching avatar resides in buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-avatar.php
checkout this function there
bp_core_fetch_avatarThere are several filters there and you can use those filters to manipulate the things better.
In reply to: Removing Activiationhi Ray
Thanks
I think, I recall it working, as one of the minor tweaked version of it is live on my other site with bp 1.1.3 and does not sends mail to the user.
still I will love to hear feedback,whether the version available there is working for bp 1.3 or not. If it is sending mail, please let me know if any of you test it, I will make some the modifications .
Thanks
In reply to: Create Group button on Groups Pageyou are most welcome

For code highlighting in forum posts use backtick character.
It is written just below the form you used to post, just see below the post button text
In reply to: Removing ActiviationIn reply to: Create Group button on Groups PageHow about this one.
<?php
global $bp;
if(is_user_logged_in())
>
<a href="<?php echo $bp->loggedin_user->domain;?>groups/create">Create a Group Now</a>
<?php endif;?>Edit: doh! I had missed f of href earlier
In reply to: Terminology – Apples to OrangesMy view is quiet different on this issue. I have already seen the chat log where it all was proposed and ms- prefix was associated.
My point is calling Blogs in wp 3.0 as site, is completely incorrect(unless someone convinces me here).
Let us concentrate on what WordPress Mu blogs offer out of the box, It is nothing more than the blog functionality(at the moment).
Obviously you can customize the blogs and wordpress plugins/themes(and wordpress itself) has the capability that a blog can be converted as a Site.
But again, Calling it as Multisite out of the box is a strong no no for me because of the obvious reasons.
Let us consider the usage, How many sites out there are using wpmu as a Multi Site software. 2%-5%(that is my personal experience+expectation,actual data may be different).
Yes, wordpress mu is mainly used for network of blogs(checkout the wpmu showcase) and one or 2 blogs on the network(most of the time, the main domain) act as the Site(or full featured site).
So calling every blog out there as a site will be completely unjustifiable.
In reply to: Blank page on member blogs in 1.1.3 and 2.8.6You are most welcome:)
Happy New year to you too and all the BP Enthusiasts
In reply to: Blank page on member blogs in 1.1.3 and 2.8.6You must have a theme with folder name “default” in your wp-content/themes.
This theme gets activated when you/your member create a new blog.
If you want some other theme, not the default, you may try this plugin
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wpmu-new-blog-defaults/
Hope it helps
Brajesh
you are most welcome.
but please take a look again at your code.
It is not yet well formatted yet.
You should keep <div id=”page” > as the top wrapper div and wrap <div d=”top-nav”> only around the navigation.
It is working as it is now, but It may cause trouble at other pages.
So, please edit your code as I mentioned in my previous post/this post.
hi there
The problem is , the css selectors for top navigation is not targeted well in style-Orange.css
have a look at this section in your stylesheet
/*
*//*
[PAGES NAVIGATION]
*//*
*/below this you will see something like
#page ul
#page li
approximately 5 rules there.
Change them to something like
#top-nav ul(replace these 5 #page with #top-nav) then open your header.php and put a div around the top navigation.
Give it an id like
<div id="top-nav">
..your original ul/li codes for navigation
</div>and update.
this should work.
It is all because the stylesheet is not correct and the css selectors are not targeted well.
In reply to: Gallerywell, Now here is my view, as I am currently involved in developing this plugin.
I think I would like to clarify a few things which are mentioned above.
First of all thanks to Bowe and everyone interested in the plugins.
@Bowe, the membership is $30 for 3 months(and Hopefully It will include further updates free too, as far as I think of now). I won’t go into details as It is community site and advertisement should be avoided here.
yes It is GPL and all what I have done is GPLed till date(But for the first time it contains a price tag, as I want to keep the development active and not let it die because of my other jobs).
You know, this plugin requires a membership which is itself a guarantee that I will keep it alive/push the updates in future.
rest, It is GPL, so You can always fork and update it yourself incase you want, which I do not suspect will happen anytime soon.
@Travel-Junkie
Yes, you are right, this is going to be released under GPL, Currently I am charging some amount to access it. The reason I charge for it currently is I am going to put a lot more effort in future to make it better and better.
Once it reaches maturity in 3-6 months, with all the features, I will make it freely available, as after that, It may not require major updates on my part.
That’s it.
PS:If moderators feel anything I wrote is in appropriate, please feel free to remove that part from the post
In reply to: Remove Blog from Search Barwell
let me clarify
My Intention was You do not need to modify the core.
To change the dropdown box, I have used the filter “bp_search_form_type_select”
and since buddypress traps the search url and makes a redirect accordingly, so “bp_core_search_site” works with that and redirects correctly.
@henrybaum, what Is appearing in your drop down box(Is it members, groups, forums, Blog), select blog and try the search. Is buddypress on your root domain.
PS:Please Note if you have put the code correctly, The ‘Blogs’ will be replaced by ‘Blog’
In reply to: Remove Blog from Search BarOk,here is the solution.
This will sllow user to search for the blog posts on the main site only.
I have used two hooks to accomplish the purpose.
put this code in either bp-custom.php or in functions.php of your current theme. No core modification is required.
//filter the allowed search type
add_filter("bp_search_form_type_select","bpdev_allowed_search_type");
function bpdev_allowed_search_type($selecttion_box_old){
//ignore the selection box
$selection_box = '<select name="search-which" id="search-which" style="width: auto">';
if ( function_exists( 'xprofile_install' ) ) {
$selection_box .= '<option value="members">' . __( 'Members', 'buddypress' ) . '</option>';
}
if ( function_exists( 'groups_install' ) ) {
$selection_box .= '<option value="groups">' . __( 'Groups', 'buddypress' ) . '</option>';
}
if ( function_exists( 'bp_forums_setup' ) && !(int) get_site_option( 'bp-disable-forum-directory' ) ) {
$selection_box .= '<option value="forums">' . __( 'Forums', 'buddypress' ) . '</option>';
}
//here we modify the thing to a new type posts
$selection_box .= '<option value="posts">' . __( 'Blog', 'buddypress' ) . '</option>';
$selection_box .= '</select>';
return $selection_box;
}
//let us filter the search action urls
add_filter("bp_core_search_site","bpdev_filter_search_url");
function bpdev_filter_search_url($search_url){
//if user is searching for main site content, modify url else return url
$search_terms = $_POST['search-terms'];
$search_which = $_POST['search-which'];
if($search_which=
"posts")
$search_url=site_url( "?s=". urlencode($search_terms) );
return $search_url;
}In reply to: upgrading from tracIt should be hopefully replacing the files with the new ones, but you can not be sure , until there is a feature freeze.
As Andy mentions, there may be some unexpected changes(very less expected though) from the current trac to buddypress 1.2 beta.
My advise, if you want, you can go ahead with this, just keep an eye on changes or you may wait till mid of January, then you will have the beta version to work with.
