In reply to: Tab on Own Profile Only
Try replacing:
'user_has_access' => ( bp_is_my_profile() || is_super_admin() ),With:
'show_for_displayed_user' => false,In reply to: Groups of Friends listMaybe there’s an easier way, but I’d do this…
Use
friends_get_friend_user_ids(...)to get the ids of the logged-in user’s friends.Pass each friend id thru
groups_get_groupsinuser_idfield.Use
groups_is_user_creator( $user_id, $group_id )to determine if the friend was the creator of each group.The best way is to use a customized language file. More info…
It may seem complicated, but once you’ve gone thru the process you’ll probably find it helpful for other situations.In reply to: Email NotificationRe #1 – I haven’t used this plugin, but the author is solid: bp-wake-up-sleepers.
It hasn’t been updated for a couple years, so it may not work with latest BP version.Re #2: You could try this plugin: buddypress-profile-progression
I don’t think it sends an email, so you’d have to hack it to add that functionality.In reply to: Multisite hook problem$result = apply_filters( 'wpmu_validate_user_signup', $result );
Are you sure that the filter hook is being used? As opposed to simply being available?You can create a ticket in trac.

In reply to: Buddypress Activity not showing commentsDo you mean comments from other pages?
Do you have ‘Blog & Forum Comments’ enabled on this page?
/wp-admin/admin.php?page=bp-settingsOr do you mean ‘Updates’ made directly in the Activity stream?
In reply to: Buddy Press Memory SpikesAlthough we cannot find the problem *precisely*, everything points to

Is RT Media running any cron jobs?In reply to: Group Extension API – multiple fields?You want to add these fields are part of the group creation process, yes?
If so, you don’t need the Group Extension API.
Use this hook insteadgroups_custom_group_fields_editable.function tim_custom_group_field() { echo ' put your fields here'; } add_action( 'groups_custom_group_fields_editable', 'tim_custom_group_field' );Then use this hook to save the field

You’re looking at the templates that render the content for tabs.
But you want to remove tabs.
Because ‘groups’ may be the only tab available, you need to make ‘groups’ the default component.
You may need to add or remove one or moreadd_filtercalls depending on your installation.
Try this in your bp-custom.php file:define( 'BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT', 'groups' ); function izzy_adjust_profile_nav() { if ( ! is_user_logged_in() ) { add_filter('bp_get_displayed_user_nav_activity', 'izzy_profile_nav_remove', 10, 1 ); add_filter('bp_get_displayed_user_nav_friends', 'izzy_profile_nav_remove', 10, 1 ); add_filter('bp_get_displayed_user_nav_forums', 'izzy_profile_nav_remove', 10, 1 ); add_filter('bp_get_displayed_user_nav_xprofile', 'izzy_profile_nav_remove', 10, 1 ); } } add_action( 'bp_init', 'izzy_adjust_profile_nav' ); function izzy_profile_nav_remove($nav_array) { $nav_array = ''; return $nav_array; }In reply to: Allow user to change their public display nameYes, if you enable this setting in wp-admin:

Try adding this to bp-custom.php:
function josiah_set_user_role( $user_id, $user_login, $user_password, $user_email, $usermeta ) { wp_update_user( array( 'ID' => $user_id, 'role' => 's2member_level1' ) ); } add_action( 'bp_core_signup_user', 'josiah_set_user_role', 15, 5 );The name of the filter hook may have changed. Ask on the s2member forums.
Please use the ‘code’ button when posting code in these forums.
They explain exactly where to put it:
You can overcome this problem by adding the following to your s2hacks.php file in your mu-plugins folder:
You may have to create that folder and file. If you don’t know how, google it.
Perhaps the 3rd comment here will solve your problem.
In reply to: Question about BP UpdatesIf you’re editing core files – then yes, of course, your changes will be wiped out.
You can use bp-custom.php to add functions.
You can use template overrides to change templates.
See the codex ( the Documentation link ) for more info.
It’s rare that you can’t make your changes using a filter hook – then the changes won’t be wiped out.
This is the standard approach to coding in WP – including BuddyPress and bbPress.In reply to: Making content public within a hidden groupI don’t think you can make a public page in a hidden group.
The viewer is either a member or they aren’t – and that applies to /group/…
You could make a WP page and apply a template to it.
That template could call a function that gathers public events.In reply to: How to Show Members From The Same RegionNo offense, but your code is a real mess.
And you should be using wpdb instead ofmysql_query.
Please consider hiring a developer. You can post a job here.Your code is garbled and missing the href. Try this:
add_filter('bp_blogs_activity_new_post_action', 'record_cpt_activity_action', 1, 3); function record_cpt_activity_action( $activity_action, $post, $post_permalink ) { if( $post->post_type == 'projects' ) { $activity_action = sprintf( __( '%1$s created a new Project, %2$s', 'buddypress' ), bp_core_get_userlink( (int) $post->post_author ), '<a href="' . $post_permalink . '">' . $post->post_title . '</a>' ); } return $activity_action; }In reply to: Approve members to private groupsOn the group page, if you are the group admin, you should see a tab called ‘Manage’.
After clicking that, you should see a sub-tab called ‘Requests’.
If you don’t, try switching to a WP theme like 2012 to determine whether it’s an issue with your theme.Try replacing all the single quotes.
For example ‘videos’ should ‘videos’.
If you copy and paste, make sure the single quotes are converted to ‘ or ’In reply to: Deliver Custom Message via BuddyPress to new usersTake a look at function messages_new_message in
bp-messages/bp-messages-functions.phpExample: Assuming your id is 1 and the new member’s id is 99
messages_new_message( array('sender_id' => 1, 'subject' => 'Welcome', 'content' => 'This is the message content', 'recipients' => 99 ) ) )You can probably include it where ever you are making yourself their friend.
