You should state the versions of BP & WP being used.
You can always query the db directly.
In this case, probably:global $bp, $wpdb; $wpdb->get_var( "SELECT secondary_item_id FROM {$bp->activity->table_name} WHERE id = $comment_id ");or maybe
global $bp, $wpdb; $wpdb->get_var( "SELECT item_id FROM {$bp->activity->table_name} WHERE id = $comment_id ");Did you try:
bp_get_the_notification_item_id()
from
\buddypress\bp-notifications\bp-notifications-template.phpI cannot duplicate this issue [ but found something similar ].
Based on your screenshot – it looks like the ‘Who can invite others to this group?’ option on the right side does not have a radio button selected.
Try selecting one of them and then ‘Save Changes’.
Post back with the results.also – when you are creating a new group and you get to the second screen,
are there no options pre-selected for the section titled
‘Which members of this group are allowed to invite others?’
?In reply to: BP 2.0 | Fatal Error, Profile UpdatesUsing BP 2.0, WP 3.9, 2012 theme – I am unable to duplicate that error.
It doesn’t sound theme related, but can you try switching to another theme ?
Have you tried deactivating any other plugins ?
Any custom code in plugins/bp-custom.php ?If you still get the error, post back here with the WP version and ALL your settings from
/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=bp-componentsIn reply to: Email NotificationsHave you tried asking in the bbPress support forums?
https://bbpress.org/forums/In reply to: BuddyPress Capabilities?Can registered users upload media (photos, video, music)?
Yes, there are plugins for that, like
https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-media/Can I modify the themes to allow for streams to be viewed similar to Pinterest or Tumblr? (I am familiar with PHP, CSS etc).
You can do anything you like – it’s open source 🙂
Is there a maximum number of registered user allowed? 1000? 10,000? What determines this?
It is determined by your server(s) resources and setup.
Also can the administrator send out email to all registered users?
There are several free WP plugins for that. You don’t need one specific to BP.
Try:
bp_has_groups( 'orderby=date_created&order=ASC' )or
bp_has_groups( bp_ajax_querystring( 'orderby=date_created&order=ASC' ) )I don’t know why you’re getting those warnings.
I suspect it’s one of your plugins – one that has an admin page.For the public site, try opening the file: wp-config.php
It will be in the root of your install.Look for this: define(‘WP_DEBUG’, true);
And either delete it or change it to: define(‘WP_DEBUG’, false);
In reply to: Statistics about my communintyWe provide a premium plugin for reporting:
But it does not show data re profile fields.
Re ‘checked boxes’ – you would want a total of the number of members who have checked box ‘x’ or a list of all members who have done so ?
@jonbie
If you want to show profile data in the members loop
( as you seem to want in this thread: https://buddypress.org/support/topic/badly-need-some-help-with-a-profile-field/ )You may be interested in this premium plugin:
In reply to: restrict listing users see certain usersIf ‘offer service’ and ‘search service’ are extended profile fields, you can adapt this example:
In reply to: Making Plugin activity show in Activitiy Stream>The plugin is currently not compatible with BuddyPress.
So you talking about adapting a premium plugin.
Is it reasonable to expect somebody to buy the plugin in order to help you?
Perhaps you’re hoping somebody already has it; but even then they would have to be willing to do the work and deliver it to you.Therefore it’s unlikely that anyone here can help.
If you get to the point where you can be specific about a code issue – iow. you’ve tried to extend the plugin and are struggling, you might want to use
http://stackoverflow.com as it will reach a broader audience.Also – you could try to hire a developer thru
In reply to: display profile fields in member header@barney92
@espellcasteI believe the OP wants the code in member-header, not in members directory.
So pointing them to awkward code that isn’t relevant is not very helpful.
The OP’s issue is with their template over-ride for member-header.php
@cdb3212 –
paste the path to your over-ride so we can see if it’s in the right place.Use https://gist.github.com/ to show us the current contents of that over-ride
In reply to: [Resolved] Username vs display nameHe means you can over-ride a BP template by following the directions here
In reply to: field visibilityI’m not sure what you mean, but if you mean the member names as shown in the loop on the members page, then no.
If you’d like more info, please use:
In reply to: field visibilityI’m not sure what the problem is.

In reply to: Small Avatar Size in Activity Stream>deem some activity as more important
I never understood that either.
It seems arbitrary and esoteric.Try this:
Create a template over-ride of
bp-templates\bp-legacy\buddypress\members\members-loop.phpAnd replace
bp_member_avatar()
with
bp_member_avatar('type=full&width=50&height=50')In reply to: Ajax Activity@barney92
Clearly the OP does not speak English.
But that has never been a requirement for posting a support topic.In reply to: Event Plugin OpinionsOf the 2 mentioned, Events Manager is the better bet.
I’ve worked with the free version.
Depending on what you need to do, customizing it can be difficult.
And it’s resource intensive.In reply to: field visibilityIn reply to: Login Redirect to "My Groups" pageIf your groups are at url/groups/
then try pasting the code below into your theme / functions.phpIt should redirect non-admins to the groups page.
based on https://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API/Filter_Reference/login_redirect
function shug_login_redirect( $redirect_to, $request, $user ) { //is there a user to check? global $user; if ( isset( $user->roles ) && is_array( $user->roles ) ) { //check for admins if ( in_array( 'administrator', $user->roles ) ) { // redirect them to the default place return $redirect_to; } else { return home_url('/groups/'); } } else { return $redirect_to; } } add_filter( 'login_redirect', 'shug_login_redirect', 10, 3 );In reply to: Login Redirect to "My Groups" page>I’ve seen the way you can direct a user to their profile
Use the same approach and replace the profile url with the groups url.
bp_core_redirect( get_option('home') . '/groups/' );In reply to: Disable admin barTry this in your theme / functions.php
function splen_remove_admin_bar() { if( !is_super_admin() ) add_filter( 'show_admin_bar', '__return_false' ); } add_action('wp', 'splen_remove_admin_bar');In reply to: How I hide my un-wanted profile tabs@henrywright – Obmerk makes an excellent argument.
But whatever works for each person.
I like filtering gettext because it’s faster than the poedit dance.
