In reply to: BP helper functions not working
bp_readyis a hook.
It doesn’t get called, you use it to make a call.
Look at the code for BP settings in wp-admin.
Perhaps there is another way to make a call after BP is loaded and ready. In reply to: BP helper functions not workingBP functions need to be used in WP & BP context.
For example, they should not be called until BP is loaded and ready – use the ‘bp_ready’ hook.
And use the WP db functions – see $wpdb
If you want to use vanilla php and mysqli, then you’ll need to roll your own join group function. In reply to: BuddyPress still going strong?BP is free to use as you wish.
As to whether you may run into issues, you might, you might not.
There is a staggering number of themes and plugins in the WP world.
There is no way for BP to account for all the possible combinations.
Nor it is reasonable for people to expect these forums ( run by volunteers ) to solve or even respond to any and all issues that may arise.BuddyPress is used by many businesses as part of their offerings.
The larger and / or more complex the business, the greater the need for a technical support budget. In reply to: BP helper functions not workingWithout some context of what you’re trying to do and the errors you see, it is difficult to make suggestions. Use gist to share your code.
In reply to: profile edit equivalent hook to `bp_signup_usermeta`Perhaps this?
buddypress\bp-xprofile\classes\class-bp-xprofile-profiledata.php Line 201: do_action_ref_array( 'xprofile_data_before_save', array( $this ) );In reply to: Please help! 404 Errors everywhereYour other urls are like this:

Get rid of theindex.phpand make sure that pages like ‘members’ exist and are assigned to Members in BP settings. In reply to: Buddypress X-profile field format changedThat is a serialized array. BP will unserialize it for you.
If you want to check it:
Get the profile field in php, then run it throughmaybe_unserialize.$profile_field = maybe_unserialize( $profile_field ); echo $profile_field[0]; // should show 'Man'In reply to: Change bp-groups to a custom post typeNo, not possible.
Look at the parameters for filtering the retrieval of groups.
Or write some custom sql.In reply to: Deny access to admins profile (Update)Please do not double post. Your other post on this topic has been deleted.

In reply to: How to CREATE group (as admin)?wp-admin > Groups > select Edit under the Group Name and follow the instructions
In reply to: How to CREATE group (as admin)?Check ‘User Groups’ under BP > Settings > Components
Uncheck ‘Group Creation’ under BP > Settings > OptionsIn reply to: Unable to remove group memberI can’t duplicate that issue.
You should see a message at the top of the screen after doing Save Changes.
What is that message? If the user is the only group admin, they cannot be removed.
Can you go to the group page then Manage > Members and remove a member from there?
In reply to: Multiple CPT in activity stream?Just use the same hooks and duplicate the functions and give them different names.
In reply to: Move profile field group to under settingsYou can add a tab under ‘settings’ by using the
bp_setp_navhook.
For example:bp_core_new_subnav_item( array( 'name' => __( 'New Tab', 'your-domain' ), 'slug' => 'new-tab', 'parent_url' => bp_loggedin_user_domain() . 'settings/', 'parent_slug' => 'settings', 'screen_function' => 'new_tab_function', 'show_for_displayed_user' => false ) );And then use the
screen_functionto add fields.
But you’ll have to write your own handlers for edit and update of the fields that you add.In reply to: false check on bp_is_my_profile() messes up layoutAre you sure
bp_is_my_profile()is working in that context ?
Place a test above yourif, something like:if ( bp_is_my_profile() ) echo 'YES'; else echo 'NO';In reply to: Create member type of member typeYou might be able to create nested member types.
But it would be a lot easier to use a profile field for the second level. In reply to: Types of member accountsYou can create member types.
Then you would need to customize the registration form and member profiles per the selected member type.
These customizations will require good skills as a WP / BP developer.
You can post a job here.If you can’t find a migration tool, then you’d need to write one or hire a developer to do so.
You can post a job here.In reply to: false check on bp_is_my_profile() messes up layoutYour issue is due to implementation.
But without knowing how you are implementing, it is impossible to offer suggestions.
If you create a gist of your code and post the link here, somebody may have a suggestion. In reply to: Search members by user login onlyYou’ll need to write code for a custom search.
You’ll need good developer skills to do so.

Something changed re file permissions on your server.
It was probably not caused by BP or WP.In reply to: Add mentionname in group member directoryForgot the echo, try:
