@Jeff Sayre
I’ve a new install hosted on H-Sphere. The site isn’t live yet but I have tried to install buddypress links but the problem persists after deactivating this. You’ve got me thinking though as I read something on a post about WPMU plugins with ‘-‘ in the name causing issues, maybe the .htaccess was modified. Can I copy and rename htaccess.dist?
Cheers

Although WPMU now tells me everything is installed and working I’m not able to register using the buddypress frontend. I found a reference in a forum suggesting that any plugins with ‘-‘ in their name can cause the error I’m seeing.
From my log:
Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable configuration error. Use ‘LimitInternalRecursion’ to increase the limit if necessary.
I’m still getting this after deactivating buddypress-links though so may be more of a buddypress general support quesiton. Any ideas?
Ah, that’ll be it. Just found out my host is running php 4.4.8. I’ve another server running php 5.2.6, I’ll move everything accross.
Thanks for you help.
I’m running:
WordPress MU 2.8.5.2.
Buddypress 1.1.2
Version 0.1.2
The installation is on a Hsphere PHP platform
Thanks
Hi,
Just installed WPMU + Buddypress on my HSphere box. I’m getting the following error when I try to activate buddypress links:
Plugin could not be activated: fatal error
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘;’, expecting ‘(‘ in /home/hsphere/local/home/planchristmas/planchristmas.com/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-links/bp-links.php on line 488
Any pointers for a newbie would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hi,
I’ve exactly the same requirement for my project. Did you manage to find a solution before I get stuck into building one.
Thanks!
Hi,
Having the same issue but not managing to get through as \’Justme1\’ did. My WP install is running ok and I\’ve included other plugins but Whenever I try to activate Buddy list I get the \’wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-avatars.php on line 17\’ fatal error message.
Downloaded and setup a new 2.7.1 WP install 2 weeks ago (my first). Added buddylist using the WP-admin ‘plugin search’ option and then also tried the zip package upload. Both instances show the same error when I try to activate.
I\’ve added \’define(\’SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE\’, 1);\’ into the section titled \’/** The Database Collate type. Don\’t change this if in doubt. */\’ as it wasn\’t in my installation although my version was shown as 2.7.1.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
