Thanks for your reply. Yep, now I know why I had stayed away from FB so long. Took me hours to sign up and find out that they do not accept any email adress starting with “mail” or “info” (thanks to the nicely descriptive message ‘please enter a valid email address’ :-P).

    Anyway, still does not work.

I also noticed that the connect button disappears after I log in, is this a feature or a bug? Isn’t the connect meant to connect logged-in users?

Thanks, do you know what problems are actually caused when using both unmodified plugins?

Should FB connect work when Welcome pack is turned off?

I turned Welcome Pack off, and on my BP1.1.1 (& wpmu 2.8.4), the button appears nicely on the right of the login screen, but when clicking it I always get this FB 404 in a popup:

“The page you requested was not found.

You may have clicked an expired link or mistyped the address. Some web addresses are case sensitive.

    * Return home

    * Go back to the previous page”

Maybe it is my crappy new facebookprofile that is not complete, can somebody else with a real FB account test it on http://Biketravellers.com ?

    Cheers, Harry

I think it would be cool to have that functionality, to jumpstart a community.

However, after installing it on BP1.1.1 (& wpmu 2.8.4), the button appears nicely on the right of the login screen, but when clicking it I always get this FB 404 in a popup:

“The page you requested was not found.

You may have clicked an expired link or mistyped the address. Some web addresses are case sensitive.

    * Go back to the previous page”

Maybe it is my crappy new facebookprofile that is not complete, can somebody else with a real FB account test it on http://Biketravellers.com ?

I disabled the welcome pack plugin for now as apparently that caused problems, but no difference.

    Cheers, Harry

Yep, that’s it. I thought it would be possible already, but when in a group I can subscribe tpo about 4 different feeds (including one of a recent post -> bug?), but not to the groups actvity.

I assume it woulbe be nice for group members to make a rss widget for their groups and for site admins to promote vertain group activity.

I am better in coming up with ideas than coding plugins though, so if anybody know how to do this: thanks in advance.

How about at least adding the admin bar dropdowns in the buddybar? It would be great to have some options, to simply check what would be included.

For example with the current buddybar it is such a pain just to edit a post I am watching (myblogs -> correct blog -> wp-admin, wait to load, then click edit posts, find correct posts, then edit, while in the regular admin bar it is just ‘edit this’ :)

Of course, it could work the other way around: add BP dropdowns in the regular admin bar would work as well.

Yep, thanks. That is what I mean. I like the fiunctionality of the register page (choose your own password, what a novel concept :) !).

But from my experience, changing the name of the sign-up (and the 3 or 4 references within) page stopped 99% of splogs sign-up, so unless we can do the same with Register (how?) I am afraid that using that page instead will mean the return of the splogs…

Am I the only one that thinks it is strange that the register page has different functionality than the wp-sign-up page?

What needs to be done to be able to rename register if I want to use that one instead of wp-signup (as the latter has the PW problem)?

    Cheers

I guess the confusion comes from the fact that you need to create groups first, and then attach forums to them. Ths is not clear and I had searched a lot for my famous forums as well before walking that way :)

    Anyone? (echo….)

Has anybody done this for BP 1.1?

I also like to be able to choose which blogs do (not) get included in the sitewide feed.

Hopefuly without hacking corefiles, it would be a great option to have in the admin (checkboxes in front of blog names/ID’s, to include or exclude them from sitewide feeds.

    Any input welcome, cheers

I would definitely make this an option only in the next version. Users might have no idea and send messages to huge groups of people, who will get fed up with it soon.

Andy, maybe it can be made possible for (group)admins only?

    Cheers

Well, I found that in the BP-blogmeta table the blog in question only had one row (last_activity), but not the Name and Description fields, so I added them manually and now they appear.

I have no idea why they were not added in the first place though…

Oh, and he was also missing from the bp_user_blogs table, have added that too and now his profile shows his blog.

Hope this can be useful for others with the same problem,

    Cheers

The plot thickens. I noticed that the blog list actually lists the blog, but just when checking the link to http://biketravellers.com/blogs, which lists all. (it is actually the first one).

But strangely enough, when checking the blogs under the letter ‘C’, it does not show up.

Also still his profile -> blogs still mentions that he has created no public blogs yet, while the blog is definitely public. what could cause all of this?

    Cheers

Yep, that fixed it for me, thanks

@ Ted. That is very annoying! I am not yet too familiar with BP, but is there a way to open PM only between friends? Either via plugin (should be core methinks) or setting?

Which means the sploggers need to send our friend requests first. If somebody is stupid enough to accept a friend request from 0rgazm-hard007, then he deserves the kiddie links ;)

On WPMU, just renaming the sign-up page and adding a few hundred domains to the sh*tlist blocked 99% of all splogs, I assume the rest is manual.

No sure how it works with the new BP regster page, can you simply rename that as well?

    Cheers

I just noticed I have the same problem. I am not sure if this is a bug as maybe not all admins check the old sign-up page?

I had renamed it to stop splogs, but after the BP installation (1.1, from scratch, with new standard themes), the register pages shows the entire form, including extra profile fields, but the ‘regular’ sign-up page only shows up half (see http://biketravellers.com/wp-newblog.php )

What is going on? No errors, it just stops halfway.

    Cheers

Not sure if this situation has changed since 8 months?

I cannot find any way to make the blog list use anything else than the standard avatars, or am I missing something obvious?

    Cheers!

Looks great, when will it be released for further testing?

When checking a classified detail, I getthe following error:

Warning: Division by zero in /home/benoitgr/public_html/dev/wordpress-mu/wp-content/plugins/bp-classifieds/bp-classifieds-templatetags.php on line 191

    Cheers
