    For whatever it’s worth, I’m on BP 1.1.3 and MU 2.8.6

    I love this plugin, and watching Andy build it on the fly at WordCamp NYC was nothing short of astounding.

    One problem I’m seeing: If you have a group that was previously created (before the plugin was activated), you can’t seem to add in Twitter ID’s using the Admin page. At least, I haven’t been able to get this to work.

    For new groups, it works like a charm.

    Great questions, Porscheheritage. I would love to know how to do both those things — bigger avatars in sitewide activity, and resized feed images — too. Did you manage to figure either out?

    This thread covers the issue pretty well:

    https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/buddypress-113-installation-fail-in-bp-activityphp

    Turns out I needed to delete the plugin entirely and reinstall from scratch.

    I had more or less the same problem. Tried the auto-update. Error. Tried overwriting the files. Error. finally deleted the BP plugin, reinstalled, and am now back in business.

    For reasons I don’t completely understand, creating a bp-custom.php file with:

    remove_action('admin_footer', 'bp_adminbar_authors_menu' );

    works in the default BP site, but in the blog pages, the remove_action doesn’t appear to do anything. Could it be that the buddybar loads differently on individual blogs?

    Finally had a chance to talk to Andy Peatling about this at WordCamp NYC this weekend. These problems are caused by one of the way the activity streams were updated in BP. The quick fix he gave me:

    In /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-activity/bp-activity-template-tags.php

    Line 255:

    $content = apply_filters( ‘the_content’, $content );

    Completely remove that line and save the file. That should fix the issue.

    Worked like a charm for me.

    Is there any way to enable captcha or something similar on BP private messaging?

    That’s where I’m seeing more and more abuse lately. Somehow sploggers register with my site, then PM all the users with kiddie port links. It’s really bad.

    I don’t quite have a handle on how they’re doing this. There must be some sort of evil script that goes through the member directory and messages member after member. Have other people seen this, and, if so, any suggestions on how to combat it?

    I’m having the same problem with the ShareThis plugin. What’s weird is that you didn’t get that annoying code — SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: ””, url: ”” }); — with BuddyPress 1.0, only subsequent versions. You can see it in action on my site at http://injersey.com

    I see the same thing happening with the Popularity Contest plugin automatically adding code into the “Featured Members” part of the site:

    AKPC_IDS += \”,\”;

    Popularity: unranked [?]

    I’ve already contacted the plugin authors to notify them. But anyone on here have an idea what might be causing these issues? As I mentioned above, they’ve only cropped up in the latest revisions to buddypress

    Thank you so much for the help, r-a-y.

    The functions.php method didn’t take for some reason, but the css route worked like a charm.

    I really appreciate the advice

    If anyone is looking to hack the adminbar so that when users log in, they stay on the current blog they’re on, just edit the bp-core-adminbar.php file and change the reference to $bp->root_domain, under the “log in and sign up links” section, to $current_blog. Also, I took out the redirect as well. So, my login widget now looks like this:

    // **** "Log In" and "Sign Up" links (Visible when not logged in) ********
    function bp_adminbar_login_menu() {
    global $bp;

    if ( !is_user_logged_in() ) {
    echo '<li class="bp-login no-arrow"><a href="' . $current_blog . '/wp-login.php">' . __( 'Log In', 'buddypress' ) . '</a></li>';

    // Show "Sign Up" link if registrations are allowed
    if ( get_site_option( 'registration' ) != 'none' ) {
    echo '<li class="bp-signup no-arrow"><a href="' . bp_signup_page(false) . '">' . __( 'Sign Up', 'buddypress' ) . '</a></li>';
    }
    }
    }

    I’m with Michael. If you’re logging into a member blog, you should always be redirected back to the root. Makes no sense.

    Did you ever come up with a solution for this, Mike? I’m having the same sort of issues with Sharethis
