In reply to: Feature Request – Profile Galleries?
@Hitler, unfortunately there is no way to write on a users profile “wall” with BP. The system implemented with BP is similar to how Twitter works. User’s communicate through @ mentions or simply commenting on another user’s status.
In reply to: Avatar crop error@tiam, @aelofoge, Make sure you are running jquery 1.4.2. Ensure that your theme/childtheme isn’t trying to call a different version of jquery. Or make sure at one of your plugins aren’t using their own version of jquery. I had the same problem and I solved it by making sure I was using the correct version of jquery.

In reply to: Arrowchat – Facebook Style Chat Bar@pcwriter, I’ll create a group once I’ve polished out the little dents in the plugin.
In reply to: Arrowchat – Facebook Style Chat BarHmmm… $65 for that little plugin. Its really neat and looks good but I’m not entirely convinced. I’m working on similar plugin which integrates phpfreechat docked at the bottom of the screen in a similar manner, for free.
In reply to: Limit the size of user updates@latenitebooks, This should point you in the right direction…
Example: http://www.ajaxray.com/Examples/charLimit.html
Tutorial: http://www.ajaxray.com/blog/2007/11/09/interactive-character-limit-for-textarea-using-jquery/Basically, you would apply the tutorial to the found in the post-form.php and the entry.php.
@SidianMSJones, do you have a link I could take a look at for you?
In reply to: Avatar Crop Tool Only Shows A Portion Of Avatar@darrin365, I think this might solve your problem!
Go into Buddymatic theme header.php file and make sure that its not calling a different version of jquery.
Make sure you are running jquery 1.4.2.
In reply to: creating a new page with a chat script@paulhastings0, of course I’ll try turn it into a plugin. I’ve never written a plugin but I’m pretty sure I can take a crack at it.
@pcwriter, the simple way to do it would be to make the “chat” page open in a new window. That’s how deviantart.com does it.
@micb11, why don’t you try this plugin https://buddypress.org/community/groups/login-with-ajax/
In reply to: What things are called in the cssFirst download and install the Firebug extension for Firefox. Found here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1843/
Then get to know how to use Firebug by reading through this document: http://www.docstoc.com/docs/6555469/How-to-use-Firebug
The document is pretty detailed so it’ll allow you to wrap your head around things.In reply to: creating a new page with a chat script@pcwriter, good idea! I’ve managed to integrate phpfreechat into a BP site I’m working on, where that chat is docked at the bottom of the screen while the user is able to browse through the website. I’m going to put together a little tutorial once I’ve fine tuned everything.
In reply to: creating a new page with a chat script@bugicp, Try this plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/phpfreechat/
In reply to: creating a new page with a chat scriptIn reply to: creating a new page with a chat script@bugicp, I know its not recommended but you could just put an iframe on the new page and make the iframe point to the x7chat script.
Add this to your CSS
#wp-admin-bar {
z-index: 1000;
}@modemlooper, thats a pretty neat little .js library. Cool.
@mohansingh, IE6 is what satan excreted on the internet back in the stone age. You shouldn’t be bothered about IE6 actually. Try this plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/nomoreie6/
“I’ve been taught not to mess with those files because when update day comes im screwed.”
@porscheheritage, you can mess with those files as much as you please as long as you are not editing the files within pluginsbuddypressbp-themesbp-default
You should in fact have a child theme an entirely new theme to edit so you don’t run into problems if you update buddypress.
In reply to: Feature Request – Profile Galleries?@Hitler, 0.1.9 has not been released yet. There is only a beta build for that. Wait until 0.1.9 is released, I’m patiently waiting for that too…
Trust me, it will be completely worth it.In reply to: Problem with BuddyPress Album+Hi @johnwinch42,
Could you clearly explain exactly what your problem is? Surely if you type in “It’s a test” in the image description then you want the description of the image to display as “It’s a test”. That’s what you’ve described in your problem…
If you could give a bit more clarity on your problem. Will be more than willing to provide some assistance if possible.
In reply to: Feature Request – Profile Galleries?@Hitler, check out this plugin https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/
