In reply to: Changing visibility in Activity page
What you can do is hide that menu option option from non-logged in users. To do this, you need to install the WPFront User Role Editor plugin and it gives the the ability to choose who can see each menu option. It’s quick and dirty but also easy. Obviously is any not logged in user knows the address of the activity page they can still see it, but you could also set that page to private.
There’s no easy way to do this I’m afraid, in this case I would unload all plugins except BP then load invite anyone and then each of your chosen plugins one by one until the site fails again, then you know which one is to blame.
That’s strange, I use invite anyone on a number of sites so I can confirm it works.
Have you tried deactivating all plugins except Buddypress and Invite Anyone to see if that works?
If it does, it’s a case of activating the other plugins one by one until you discover which one is causing the conflict.
IF you are getting the 500 error you may not be able to get to the Dashboard to deactivate plugins, that being the case you should FTP to the wp-content/plugins directory and you can delete the other plugins from there in order to get your site back.
In reply to: [Resolved] Child ThemeThe answer is yes and yes!
Yes a BP theme is a WP theme that has been optimised for BP.
And yes, if you create a child theme and copy the PHP file into wp-content/mychildtheme/buddypress/etc the file will be protected from bp updated.
In reply to: Remove secrtion icons in profileI also found this:
In reply to: Remove secrtion icons in profileThis post may help:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/member-menu-alterations/
In reply to: Remove secrtion icons in profileI’m not an expert but I think that would involve doing a template overload of the user profile php files and editing the files in the members/single section.
Sorry I can’t be more specific
In reply to: Remove secrtion icons in profileTHose icons don’t come with Buddypress, they may be something from your theme?
In reply to: Activation email not being sentThink it must be my host settings, no emails are working
In reply to: How to manage Avatars? There’s a plugin called Media File Manager that will allow you to browse and manage the entire Media directory structure.
In reply to: How @mention all membersOther than writing your own code I think that’s the only option, you could ask @henrywright the plugin creator to add it as a feature but I’m not sure he’s in favour of it.
In reply to: How @mention all membersThe nearest thing I know is https://wordpress.org/plugins/crowdmentions/ however this does not have an @all function, just friends or group members but it may help
In reply to: Order postsThis seems to be more of a bbPress issue, since it is to do with the ordering of the forum. I would unload all other plugins and see if the problem persists, also switch to the 2016 Theme.
In reply to: Activate PageThat’s strange, and you went to settings/buddypress/pages and set the activate page to be the activate page in buddypress?
In reply to: Activate PageAh ok, its the same as for the register page, you create a blank page and link it in the Buddypress page settings.
In reply to: Order postsI think you need to provide more information about this error, Buddypress does not normally work with posts so I would like to know why you think this is BP? If you unload all other plugins does the issue still appear?
In reply to: Activate PageWhat is the error you are getting?
The user should get an email with and activation link
By the way, this activation email sometimes ends up in the Spam bin on the users email, one fix to this is to set the outgoing email address used for this email using a plugin such as https://wordpress.org/plugins/cb-change-mail-sender/
In reply to: [Resolved] Redirect on LogoutIt works now, thanks for your time and thanks for the code.
In reply to: Buddypress login – logout – lost passwordThis works, I was making a mistake when I put it in the functions.php file
In reply to: [Resolved] Redirect on LogoutAh, My bad! I put it in outside of the PHP script. Sorted now
In reply to: How are Users managed?#1. You create a blank register page and then you go into the BP page settings and select that page to be used as the registration page, you also need to set wordpress settings to allow user registrations in settings>>General
#2. They are adding details to your own DB
In reply to: Buddypress login – logout – lost passwordThis one should be the answer:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/error-404-page-not-found-3/
However it did not work for me, I’ve raised a thread about it here:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/redirect-on-logout/
It may work for you, since it worked for the other chap
In reply to: Buddypress login – logout – lost passwordNo that did not work
In reply to: Buddypress login – logout – lost passwordJust found this, will give it a try.
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/logout-redirect-from-wp-admin-bar-may-be-useful/
In reply to: Buddypress login – logout – lost passwordYep I’d like to know what to do about that too, it should redirect to the home page on logout as standard really.
