1.0.3 to 1.1 upgrade kills group avatar (how to fix)

If you have upgraded any previous versions of buddypress to 1.1, and see that group avatars which are previously uploaded don’t work, here’s little tip fixing them.

    As posted on trac:

    http://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/1147

On 1.0.3 and previous buddypress, system generates randomly named uploaded group images ending with -full. But 1.1 generates differently -bpfull. This is what causing group avatar not correctly displayed after upgrade.

So use Filezilla or any FTP program, go to /wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/group-avatars/ and rename previously uploaded images from -full to -bpfull

I’m about 10000% percent sure that I saw an upgrade function which renamed these for you. I can’t find it. I’m sure that apeatling also posted it as a code snippet on the forums. Can’t find that either. /sadface

My site appears to be using -full still, both on the site, files and in the database. Wondering if it should only use -bpfull when you upload a new avatar or something.

I’m marking this as ‘not resolved’ as whilst you have posted a workaround for your site, I’d like to clear this properly ;)

This isn’t working for me. On my site, the permalink for the photo just points to http://urtur.com, the root of the site. Within the group admin area, there is no way to change the avatar either. Kind of a pain…

Any news on this one? Would be handy, not to do it one by one…

    Thanks :-)
