@henrywright-1 I’ve seen this issue in old old BP version. Do provide information about your WP/BP versions, theme used, plugins installed, etc. https://buddypress.org/support/topic/when-asking-for-support-2/
@mercime
Using a fresh install of WP 3.5.1. Tried 3 different versions of BP (1.6.1 / 1.6.4 / 1.7.1 ). Aside from BP, no plugins activated accept BP Follow. Same outcome each time.
Can you remember the version you saw this problem on? Considering you say the issue was only on an old version for you, I wonder if there was ever a trac ticket which resolved the issue? Any information you have that will help me track down the cause will be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
@henrywright-1 I recall seeing that happen once with a BP Default child theme and the other time with a “BuddyPress-ready” theme. It was a JS issue and was fixed with a point upgrade. What theme are you using?
Hi @mercime
I am using my own child theme of bp-default. The annoying thing about building your own child theme is when stuff like this happens. My line of thought right now is global.js is loading after the HTML form which is why you see the form appear and then disappear (as soon as global.js is loaded the hide functions kick in). I’d be interested to take a look at the fix. Any ideas how I could find the trac ticket without manually searching through all of the closed tickets?

When I go to the activity stream (example.com/activity), the comment reply form displays for a second or two under each activity feed entry. Then it disappears from view. I am guessing this may have something to do with global.js? My thoughts are global.js hides the comment reply form from view but the code inside global.js that does the hiding is loaded after the page is displayed initially. Hence the comment reply form is displayed for about 2 seconds and then disappears.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I’d like the form to be hidden from the start. Of course when someone clicks on ‘Comment’ i’d like the form to appear as is the standard behaviour. Just to be clear – I don’t want it hidden forever – just hidden on page load and not viewable for that initial 1 or 2 seconds.
