  • @karmatosed

    Moderator

Please let us know here of any compatibility issues or plugins / themes that work already for BuddyPress 1.5 during the pre-release phase. That way we can make sure people know when they can upgrade and update the codex with a list.

These failed for me in 1.5 beta:

Bp-Like – Failed. via @hempsworth (will be updated soon according to him)

Activity-Stream-Bump-to-top failed. via @nuprn1 (Currently Rich is not updating this, but I hope somebody does for 1.5 as this is a most useful plugin)

External blog failed. via @bowromir found here:

Good lord. It’s all just falling apart, isn’t it? I won’t be going to 1.5 at all, by the looks of things.

1.5 isn’t even released yet. Many plugins will need to be updated, but you can’t really expect people to update those plugins until they’ve had a time to test against 1.5 for compatibility.

BuddyPress Share It and BuddyPress Verified good to go with either BP versions. Though all plugins will need toy be verified with the RC 1.5.

BuddyPress Mobile is most likely going to crash and burn with 1.5 and I’m not updating it. I’m turning it into a free version of http://buddiphone.com. Good things come to those who wait.

Oh and i’m pitching for 1.6 to have a mobilized style sheet for BuddyPress by default.

Since 1.5 top level is page, I’m curious– a single group is a page or something else?

Nope, only the groups directory is a page, but not a single group. This topic is for compatibility issues, so please create your own topic if it’s not related. Cheers.

@Pisanojm: External blog is more of a tutorial but thank you for the rest.

@stwc: as @enderandrew said it’s still beta this list is more a guide and help than a omg panic button inducing one :) All is good but lets just keep each other informed.

@modemloopers / @Svenl77 can we if cool keep this to updated plugins / issues rather than a mobile discussion. To that extent please start that in forum as a thread as personally I have like others opinions on that such as looking at responsive rather than the app approach (not time for debate here though :)).

@Travel-Junkie: Thank you updated those plugins to show working.

@Karmatosed I hate responsive themes because they are misused. You do not need it for desktop. Ever. If you use responsive css then it should give you the appropriate css based on screen size, not change the layout when you resize a browser. That is the worst UI/UX i’ve ever seen.

As for the app approach, more people access Facebook and Twitter via apps than they do browsers. The numbers dictate the slow death of the browser.

@modemlooper: Lets have a thread somewhere else about this, I don’t agree but it should be an open discussion as said not on this thread.

@karmatosed the plugin is here (and this link is posted at the above link I posted):
    http://bp-tricks.com/wp-content/uploads/external-member-blogs.zip

It is listed on that page, but for some reason is not int he WP repository… it’s a great plugin, and no others really like it (via @boromir)

BuddyPress Media is now fully compatible with BuddyPress 1.5. We have a beta version available at the link below, and we’ll issue a release to production next week (once our test team are finished with it).

    http://code.google.com/p/buddypress-media/downloads/detail?name=bp-album_2011-08-07_BETA.zip

When listing us on the compatible plugins page, please list us as “BuddyPress Media”, and link to this URL: “http://code.google.com/p/buddypress-media/”. BP-Album will *cease to exist* after BuddyPress 1.5 is released (it will turn into BuddyPress Media).

On behalf of the Buddypress Media team, congratulations on your new release. We’ve spent the past three days going through your code, and we’re just *astonished* at the improvements in structure, efficiency, and documentation!

    This could be worth cake;)

We’ll be dropping by your dev chat this Wednesday to bombard you with questions and talk about what we can do to help get other key plugins working with 1.5 as quickly as possible.

    See you there!
