Load new doesn’t happen immediately, are you saying it doesn’t happen at all? Also, make sure it’s turned on in your BuddyPress settings
It doesn’t happen at all and yes, it is turned on
Hi @godavid33,
If you use Chrome browser, you can display the inspector, then you’ll see a tab “Network”. If you activate it, every 15 seconds you should see that admin-ajax is called. If it’s not the case, there might be a javascript error OR you are using BP-Default theme or a child theme of it.
This feature is not available in BP-Default/child of BP-Default
I definitely don’t see the correct admin-ajax call (there is one being called periodically, but that is originating from a plugin of mine that checks for new notifications).
I am in fact using a child of BP-default. Bummer 🙁
How/what theme do I have to be using for it to work? I was under the impression BP just defaulted to BP-default (lol) but maybe I don’t fully understand the bp theming process
You could try to use https://github.com/modemlooper/Buddy-Default
It’s the BP-default theme but it uses new bp-templates. You’ll have to change the parent: in style.css. Also, the template files in current BP are a bit different than the original bp-default.
so just to reiterate, BP-Default and Buddy-Default are different themes? @imath said not to use BP-defauilt for it to work.
Buddy-default looks the same as bp-default but it’s stripped of BuddyPress template so the templates get loaded from new template compatibility. Only a theme getting template capability files will use ajax new posts notice.
The same issue with me. There is no activities in the stream although the counter show up their amount. Were I can download buddypress 1.9.2 to roll back?
P.S. I tried to play with different themes but it didn’t help.
Thank you but it looks like something wrong with 1.9.2 package link. But I downloaded 1.9.1 and see if that helps.
Yeah, after installation of 1.9.1 that problem with activity records disappeared. I can see them again.
Thanks @modemlooper, will try to look into changing this and will post results here. Got some bigger fish to fry before I can move on to this.
Not happening for me too. On Buddyboss 3.1.7 – will report to the developers
@modemlooper Okay, so I am probably going to get into moving to Buddy-default today. My concern is I am overriding templates from pre 2.0 (bp-default). Is there any way I can conserve these custom templates I’ve made and move to Buddy-default, or am I just going to have to manually (read, S.O.L) lol
use this plugin does an auto update of activity RS Buddypress Activity Refresh works fine on BP 1.9 and 2.0 as well.
This plugin is also interesting BuddyPress Activity Stream Ajax Notifier
@modemlooper, @imath : you know, I actually realized I am not using either “theme” technically. I am using Avada, but am overriding the bp-default templates I believe. Does this count as still using bp-default as my “theme”? If so, am I SOL as far as the activity stream ajax finding new content? Is there a guide or way for me to figure out how to tell BP that I’m overriding with Buddy-default templates?
got same problem here.
