BuddyPress Registration form input fields are not working

I can not enter any characters in any of the input fields on the registration page.
When I inspect the elements they do not appear to be present in the DOM but do show visually on the screen.
I checked in Chrome, IE, mobile chrome and native android browser.
VERSIONS:
buddypress: 2.8.2
wp: 4.8
php: 5.4

when I remove the class standard-form in the inspect element/console/DOM Explorer of IE

I can then add text to the fields.
I was also able to submit the FORM successfully.

Im not sure how to solve though as I am not a PHP developer and I don’t know how to navigate wordpress files since I am new to wordpress.

Please help THanks.
