Hi all

I don´t know if here is the exact place to post my doubt but anyway…

After googling i´ve found only few entries regarding this:

How can we make subforuns under group foruns in bp using bbpress?

    Look what i´ve found: http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/sub-forums-in-bbpress-2-3-and-buddypress-1-7/

I´m still trying to figure out how to correctly achieve that may new project depends a lot on this forum-subforum thing.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

@wilsoncortezribeiro I don’t know what you expect from us when the Project Lead of both BuddyPress and bbPress already mentioned

Multiple forums per BuddyPress Group is started in bbPress, but likely won’t be finished for several months.

What moebis posted there was hacking bbPress core file which is not recommended at all. Of course that wouldn’t stop coders who know what they’re doing and would be able to create a fix when bbPress is upgraded. Still, it’s not kosher to hack core files at all.

    Thanks mercime

I was really interested on what moebis posted there even for testing purposes but i could not find out where exactly to hack that code, You know?

For now I´ll stay with the default buddypress forum instead plus that very nice plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-group-hierarchy/ and another one to attach some images on forum´s topics. i guess they´ll do trick 😉

Multiple forums per BuddyPress Group is started in bbPress, but likely won’t be finished for several months.

And that said let´s wait for the leadres.

    Once more thank you

Ps. I´ve heard from Boone Gorges ( http://www.youtube.com/embed/PTNdMn8rGlg ) that native buddypress forums will not get updated anymore but i don´t think it will be just cutted off from bp 1.7.xx and further. What you think?

@wilsoncortezribeiro I haven’t checked out the hack itself and I’m not going to 🙂

re BP’s internal bbPress group forums: https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/using-bbpress-2-2-with-buddypress/

    @wilsoncortezribeiro
Boone is a BP Lead Dev so of course he’s right 🙂 The link I gave above are the options you have for your existing BP’s internal bbPress Group Forums.

Just throwing a post up to stay in on the loop on this one.

I’ll probably be trying moebis’ hack out. I can understand there may be performance issues relating to scalability (10 groups with 10 subforums = 100 subforums + 10 toplevel group forums), but this seems to meet my requirements for the time being

It’s good to see the bbPress team are already working on it, so hopefully they’ll have it sorted before I encounter any performance issues.

Anyway, I’m sure to do a heap of testing before I transfer my existing community.

@Fraternity Do you already have a working buddypress install with 1.6.5?

If so, I guess you can migrate with not many problems, but for new installs the old (and good, why not?) forum component it´s NOT available anymore.

At least till now i could not find a way of keeping it.

As i´m not a coder i need a bit more info to try that moebis hack 🙁
