Cincopa photo plugin is not a BP media component

Just a clarification for the uninformed: The (very well built and robust) Cincopa media (video/photo) plugin listed in the BP plugins listings is NOT BP integrated. Sure you can use it, but don’t expect activity stream integration, group albims, etc.

    FYI

It doesn’t call any BP functions (searched for “bp_” in the files) so this is a bit misleading. I’m not aware of any precedent in plugins claiming to be BuddyPress compatible which aren’t, so will be interesting to see what apeatling has to say.

Yea, I didn’t want to sound like a dick by making that statement but, at first glance, it just appears to be a case of “Hey, I’ll list my plugin here, too” which isn’t cool. Esp in light of some of the killer (and not easy) work being done right now.

Mingle, a social networking WP plugin is one I’ve seen listed once a while in https://buddypress.org/extend/plugins/ when the plugin get’s updated. It doesn’t even claim to be BP compatible, it’s just tagged as buddypress.

easy for anyone to to tagged their plugin ‘buddypress’ maybe there needs to be a verification? (in the code?)
