Create group: get blank page after saving group settings

    Hi all!

    Still running WPMU2.8.6/BP1.1.3.

Since yesterday, when I try to create a group, I get a blank content area where the next step’s form should be. I tried deactivating BP Groupblog (the step following settings) to see if that was the problem, but then Upload Avatar form simply didn’t show either.

The new group does however get created and it shows up in the Directory. Plus, once it’s created, everything can be edited through Group Admin in Profile.

Here’s a weird thing though: each test group I create is visible in the server database (Bluehost), but so is an accompanying “ghost” group whose date of creation is Dec 31, 1969! (The ghost also shows up on the Directory page, but with no data).

I’ve retraced my steps since Saturday and undid everything I had changed, even re-uploaded all the files for bp-parent, but can’t get things working again.

If anyone would care to take a look, please login as “tester” with pass “123abc456”

    Any ideas?

Well now. After deactivating all plugins, a fresh download and reinstall of BP1.1.3 including parent & default themes, reactivating BP (with no other plugins activated), everything works fine with the bp-default theme.

When I reactivate my custom child theme, that’s where things screw up. Aha!

OK. Back to the drawing board for my child theme… and this time I’ll try to follow the instructions better :-)

Did you find what the problem was in the child theme? I am having the EXACT same issue, with the ghost 1969 group creation and everything. In group creation, everything seems to work just fine until the upload avatar page, where the form doesn’t show up.

The only files I have customized are the header and footer templates, and they should have all the important WordPress/Buddypress snippets necessary. Is there something in particular I should be looking for?

Was there ever any resolution to this?

I’m having exactly the same issue.

Each time I create a group I get a blank group created and thats the group id that gets passed back to the script causing it to fail to find any data.

    Thanks

    Ok …

FaceStream was the culprit for me.

    Thanks

same exact problem, blank page after proceeding to step 3. Please, if anyone has a solution for this it will be greatly appreciated as my project will be stalled until I can find a solution to this.
