How can I fix the BuddyPress Default theme to work with the 3.0 upgrade?

    @elizawhat

    Because of the 3.0 upgrade, a couple of things changed for BP themes. I cannot for the life of me remember where to find the files via FTP so that I can download them and add the necessary lines to tighten up security, and I’m really honestly quite surprised that the BP team didn’t update the BuddyPress Default theme to work with the 3.0 changes. Can someone either refresh my memory on where to find the main BuddyPress theme via FTP, or give me an idea of when the BP Default theme will be updated (or maybe just point me to a nice, recently updated theme)?

    Thanks!

    BP-Default does work with WP 3.0; what exactly are you referring to, custom menu support? The theme will not see any significant changes until BuddyPress 1.3, which won’t be out for a while yet. The theme lives in /plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/.

    ETA on 1.3?

    No date yet. Lots of tickets left. See: https://trac.buddypress.org/roadmap I’d expect at least a few months if I was guessing, but you never know unless you get in and start fixing tickets to make it go faster.

    @djpaul can you elaborate on whats getting changed in the themes? I hate to create themes only to have to redo them all.

    Re: ETA on BP 1.3 – Jeff has a good estimate for when BP 1.3 is coming out. There’s still quite a bit of work to be done.

    Re: Theme changes in BP 1.3 – Nothing is changing for themes (as of yet).

    The only main change (that I know of so far) in BP 1.3 is how BuddyPress pages are now integrated into regular WordPress pages.

    I’m willing to bet that 1.3 will have theme changes, as it’ll be a major release. There’s lots of suggestions and improvements we can make to BP-Default, it’s just that no-one’s got started on it yet.

    Is this available to see now in the trunk?

    @elizawhat, what do you mean by “tighten up security”? I’m using the default BP theme (well, with a child theme), and wasn’t aware that anything needed to be added to it when using with 3.0 for security purposes!

    @modemlooper The work hasn’t even started yet. We’re waiting for the 1.2 branch to be merged with the trunk, first.

    …and then yes, custom menu support will be there, as it is now in BP trunk, where BP components are now rendered as WP Pages — but accordingly, various plugins in the current state lead to “Page Not Found” i.e. this gap is not closed but will be.

    @justbishop You’re not seeing this warning on your Dashboard?

    @djpaul I have no idea what you’re talking about when you refer to “custom menu support.” See the image above to see the security issues I was talking about in my initial post. Thanks for the file path.

    @elizawhat – You need to finish your upgrade from WPMU to WP 3.0 properly.

    Read and implement everything listed here:

    @elizawhat: nope, I don’t have that o.0
