Is this possilbe with BuddyPress?

I’ve been using WP for a number of years, but am new to BuddyPress. I want to create a site using WP as a CMS, but with advanced visitor interactivity. I want users to be able to post their own photos and videos to the site on blog posts and in an events section. Is this possible with WP and BP? Or does this require a custom CMS solution? Thanks!

Yep, you can definitely do this with WP/BP. But as far as photo albums/videos go, you’ll definitely want to figure out the storage/hosting part, because it sounds like your users might be playing with loads of data.

Thanks for responding. Yes, storage and hosting are definitely concerns.

And I’m not sure if this is the right place, but do you (or anyone else) know where I can find WP/BP developers for help with this scenario?

Check out the BP Media plugin and other event plugins in: https://buddypress.org/extend/ See if they meet your needs or not. I know the media plugin for example has been working on some major caching of the images, so it might be fine for you. Try it out and see.

There’s a BP job group where you can post a request for a WP/BP developer to help you with the project: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-jobs-board/

Continuing here from WP.org forum thread, if you mean media upload by members who’re registered on your site, then what techguy said above answers your question. But if you mean online visitors do not need to register to upload media, then aside from that being a dangerous thing to do, try out TDO Mini-forms.

Thanks for helping me with my decision on using Buddypress. I’m exploring it further.

Thanks mercime. Do you guys know if gigpress will work with wp and bp as well? Can site visitors add content to archived gigs? Sorry for these questions. I’m just not envisioning the whole thing yet. I guess that’s why I would need a buddypress developer to help me!
