BuddyPress 1.0.3 Released

BuddyPress 1.0.3 is now available for download.
This version fixes compatibility issues with WordPress MU 2.8.1. Due to major changes in this version of WordPress the updates to BuddyPress are very specific, therefore WordPress MU 2.8.1 is required for BuddyPress 1.0.3 and higher. Please upgrade your version of WordPress MU before upgrading BuddyPress.
There are now complete upgrade instructions, so please follow these step-by-step when upgrading BuddyPress.
Once you have upgraded to the latest, you will need to re-add your BuddyPress widgets. The widgets have been completely rebuilt with the new widget API. This is a one time step only.
As always, please backup before upgrading anything.

Excited about the forthcoming release of 1.1…
Andy, any update on the status? The Trac says it’s now “past due”. Any new guidance for an ETA? I’ve got a big project I want to start developing the theme for, but want to wait until I see the new theming setup!

In September will be the release. If you want to start now then use the trunk version, the theme setup is basically completed.

The upgrading instructions are really helpful it gives you the whole details of the process. BP support is really good thumbs up for it.

this is impossible to upgrade for us because we have more than 5000 members and it will be a complete mess up !!! (please heeeeeeeelp) ; )
we are about to put our website online next week i hope and it’s still impossible to insert avalid birth date or town, we also tried a lot of captcha but none of them works !!! any help ???

I was reading all of the forums and blog posts only to realize that they seemed like very complicated fixes. I also noticed that I hadn’t backed up any previous versions of my WP.
However, after I stopped freaking out, I looked at the components of the upgrade and noticed that it was one folder called ‘buddypress’ stored in the plugins folder.
So, I got the old BuddyPress Folder from the previous version and replaced it with the upgraded folder and wah-la it was fixed.
Luckily, I had the old BP pre 1.0.2 version to replace. You may be able to find this somewhere. If not ping me and I’ll post it somewhere.

I’m very new and no programmer but I have had some of the problems people are referring to here in this thread. Regarding all the issues with upgrading past 2.81 and the issue that even after you do the upgrade it still shows as needing to be upgraded. I wanted to let everyone know that I struggled with this for practically a month.
Finally, I just backed up the db and my content, deleted everything including the web space for the site itself, reinstalled the 2.84 version and BP1.03. I put my content back in and now everything works beautifully (except the crop box is messed up).
While I am a newbie and no programmer at all, my back up and reinstall took all of about 30 minutes as compared to the nearly month of frustration.
If you find yourself in the same trap, you may find that just doing a complete reinstall is the fastest route to go. For what ever its worth.
