Tuesday’s getting even more terrific as we announce the second beta of BuddyPress 1.7!
Building on a solid first beta, beta 2 has a number of bug fixes and improvements, mainly around the theme compatibility and admin screens. For those of you interested in a changelog between beta 1 and 2, check out this report in Trac.
Now’s the time to test your themes and plugins, and let us know if you find anything unexpected happening. If you think you’ve found a bug, please report it on the BuddyPress Core Trac.

This is nothing short of a miracle release guys Thank YOU! – I can confirm that the ajax issues surrounding WPMU BPMB Mapped domains has disappeared and Ajax URL’s now point correctly to their mapped master. But I guess you already knew they would, clever clever dev’s.
Sincere gratitude and kudos to all involved.
Hi BuddyPress!
If I downloaded 1.6 and trying to learn it, but should I just wait for this beta to be finished? I would rather wait if its not going to take long and has a better user interface anyways…
Also, my theme requires the template pack. What do I need to know about this?
Thanks!
Alex
Im using 1.7 beta 1
Will it show the update to beta 2 or final in the wp plugins panel?
Must rewrite files via ftp?
Thank you
Updates in plugins panel show up for stable releases, i.e. when BP 1.7 is released. You can download BP 1.7 beta 2 per link posted above, go to your installed plugins panel and delete the beta 1 version, then upload beta 2 in plugins > upload panel.
Is there a way to fake that update? It would be rather handy to test…
You’ll have better luck using Subversion or FTPing as needed. We don’t have an easy UI to swap plugin versions around.
Awesome, thank you so much for keeping us posted! I appreciate the hard work you guys are doing! 🙂

Hiya,
Is it expected that bbpress forum posts show up in the activity stream with 1.7? I’ve installed the 1.7b2 and can’t see this happening (bbpress 2.2.4) though I was sure it was on the roadmap…
Try the bbPress 2.3 beta.
Upgraded to bbPress 2.3-rc1 still no bbPress activity stream content. Should I take this to the bbPress forum?
Bump.
Still not sure if this is expected behaviour. I’ve tried bbpress 2.2.4/2.3rc1 with a variety of themes including default.
So – activity streams stuff is failing because bbp_is_site_public() is returning false in bbpress’s activity.php. In turn, thats because get_blog_option( $site_id, ‘blog_public’, 1 ); from template-tags.php returns false, which in turn is because BP replaces a Multisite function in bp-core-wpabstraction.php.
So without multisite, where in the admin panel would one find the ‘blog_public’ option?
Quick question. The “Load More” doesn’t work unless your are signed in. Is it supposed to be like that?
I have a bug !
In configuration the pages “register” and “activate” no stable !
I must recreate these pages regularly, as it disappear!
error “The currently activated BuddyPress components are not associated with a page WordPress: http://www.portaildesiles.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=bp-page-settings. [repair]”
