No, this is not normal. It’s a bug.
There’s a fix for the next version, but it hasn’t been released yet:

That particular portion of the email footer can be changed via the Customizer under “Appearance > Emails”.

You’re most likely using a custom theme or you have overriden the activation template.

About the email, we updated the email to add the activation code. To see this update, you can reinstall the emails and that should allow your users to copy the activation code. View the first point in the above thread to find out how to do that.

It looks like you have a database backup, the DB tables you would want to revert and replace are “wp_bp_xprofile_fields” and “wp_bp_xprofile_groups”. You would have to contact your web host to figure out how to use your backup.
The delete confirmation sounds like a good idea though.

Can you tell me what mobile device you are emulating with Chrome’s developer tools? If you have some plugins activated, deactivate ones that might be interfering with the registration process.

https://bbpress.org/forumsbbPress handles forums and BuddyPress handles the community aspect (profiles, groups, etc).

What happens when you change your theme to something else like Twenty Seventeen or another WordPress default theme?
BuddyPress just uses the oEmbed providers that WordPress uses:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds#oEmbedSo to only use WordPress and Vimeo, disable all the other oEmbed providers by WordPress. Not sure if there is a plugin to do that natively, but there is a brief description under the “Removing Support for An oEmbed-Enabled Site” section on the codex page I linked to above.

I came across another similar issue and the problem was due to some BuddyPress components being deactivated and a bug with Nouveau.

For future reports, if there are bugs and you are able to list the steps in order to reproduce the problem on a fresh install, please create tickets over at https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org (use the same credentials you use on wordpress.org). (Do not make support threads there though!)
The reason is not all developers are checking the support forums.
