Avatars aren’t shown after the upgrade
Hi. I know there are other topics about that issue but this is new. Because I tried everything to solve that avatar issue but it still has a problem.
I’ve upgraded to 1.2.5 from 220.127.116.11 and now some of the group and member avatars are gone.
I tried to fix with .htaccess but it didnt work.
How can i solve that? thanks.
Nope… I tried the other solutions but can’t see some of the member and group avatars. How can I fix that?
OK, I’m trying to fix it for 7 hours. Can anyone help me please? I couldnt solve it
Well, we had the problem with 18.104.22.168 (avatars weren’t showing up on user’s blogs, just gravatars) but the upgrade to 1.2.5 fixed it. Is it possible that you had some code in your theme’s funtions.php file or your plugins/bp-custom.php file?
I’ve cleared the codes in functions.php and bp-custom.php
It just happened today after I upgraded from 22.214.171.124 to 1.2.5
It happened suddenly and I’m triyng to fix it for hours
I had to close my site down until I solve it. Tsk tsk…
When I check it from phpmyadmin, I see all avatar URL’s are: blogs.dir/1/files/1/
Second “1″ must be group id. But it’s not…
What version of WP are you using and is it MU, MS or SU?
Did you upgrade from WPMU?
FYI, I deleted your other forum posts from the other thread. Please do not hijack other people’s threads!
I upgraded it last week and didn’t have any problem. I had the missing avatar problem today when I upgrade from 126.96.36.199 to 1.2.5
I upgraded it last week
What is “it”? Did you upgrade from WPMU to WP 3.0? I’m not talking about BuddyPress.
Okay, then follow the guide from the previous thread I mentioned:
Read and implement everything.
Chances are you’re missing the .htaccess edit and moving /wp-includes/ms-files.php to /wp-content/.
@r-a-y I tried to move and edit .htaccess but nothing changed. When I upgraded BP 1.2.5, I refreshed the page and couldn’t see the avatars.
What else should I do?
The guide didn’t tell you to move the .htaccess file. You need to edit it.
Read the “Update Rewrite Rules” section in the guide again.
The guide also told you to move /wp-includes/ms-files.php to /wp-content/.
My bad.. Sorry for my English. I tried to edit .htaccess and move ms-files.php into wp-content. I replaced the code in my .htaccess and nothing changed. It didn’t work. But I worked for my beta site when I upgraded there.
I also have a beta site. When I upgraded WP MU to WP 3.0 and BP 188.8.131.52 to BP 1.2.5, everything was fine. And beta site still works stable. But root site has problems…
Yes Ray. Avatars were working before I upgrade to 1.2.5 from 184.108.40.206
Okay, I think John is working on a fix for this:
It’s a known bug, sorry for making you jump through hoops!
And I can’t upload a new avatar to replace the existing one. I tried to upload 1.2.41 version back but it didn’t work. My site is down for 15 hours due to this problem.
@alierkurt – Is BuddyPress activated network wide on your WP 3.0 install?
Yes Ray. BP is activated network wide. And the link you gave me which John is working on it is the same with my problem.
@r-a-y I’ve uploaded an SS for the group avatar to the ticket:
Can you copy and paste the image location for a broken group avatar?
When I locate the file from FTP, I see the avatar file is there. The path:
It replaces the path with adress.com/files/group-avatars
It’s still working in my beta site with the same way.
You could temporarily try setting the BP_AVATAR_URL and BP_AVATAR_UPLOAD_PATH in wp-config.php:
Change the variables to suit your install and see if that works.
