This year at WordCamp San Francisco I gave a presentation on BuddyPress entitled “Cooking WIth BuddyPress”. The idea was to answer three questions:
- What is BuddyPress?
- Why should I use BuddyPress?
- How do I skin and extend BuddyPress?
The presentation was aimed at both non-technical and technical people and should provide you with a better understanding of what the project is, and it’s potential.

Thanks for the overview, Andy!
Your video was excellent (and upbeat, all along). I recommended it to a friend who wants to create his own social network.
Thanks for making BuddyPress available!
Hey Andy, thanks for this video.
I’ve just downloaded and installed both WordPress MU and BuddyPress on my laptop – smooth installation!
I look forward to hearing you speak in Vancouver at the DemoCamp Vancouver 07 Social Platform.
My business partner Rastin Mehr will be doing a presentation on his pet project: Anahita Social Engine.
See you there!
Jen
Great stuff Andy, just the thing to watch for a non-developer like me. Looking forward to implement this in the near future.
I just love buddypress. Thanks for the explanation and making this much simpler.
