A second release candidate is now available for testing on WordPress 2.9.1 and WordPress MU 2.9.1 and above (zip / svn).
If you are upgrading from an earlier pre-release version then you can just overwrite the BuddyPress plugin directory. Instructions for upgrading test installations from previous versions of BuddyPress are also available.
As before you can find a list of known issues and a place to post bugs via the BuddyPress Trac installation.
Please do not post bugs in the comments as they may be missed.
Hello, this release is only for WP-MU?.. There are plans for tipical WP?
Thanks
No, this is also for standard WordPress, not just WPMU.
Good work. Looking forward for the final release.
Any target date planned for final release?
Great news, I just tried RC1 yesterday, I didn’t see a new release coming today!

Sweet!
I noticed, there’s a big change in the default template between RC1 and Beta. Got to test this one.

Please update the zip 🙂

Andy,
I have a request. I’m not sure how best you could implement this, but if you could create a separate Forum for WP single-user BP installs (as opposed to WPMU), that would be helpful. It is very confusing searching the Forums and Trac right now, because what is often a feature in WPMU is a bug in the single-user version (see this bug I just posted, for instance: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/1878 ).
I’ve been pushing a test install of BP 1.2 (first beta, then RC1, then a trunk update, now just installed RC2) and finding a number of issues — some bugs, some usability problems, and perhaps some that aren’t bugs but I’m just missing something, and it would be great if you had a separate Forum just for these single-user issues. I think it would help your beta tesing quite a bit.
Thanks.
Loving it. 🙂
And all of the bugs apart from the upload image one are gone, which is really impressive.

Great work, thanks!!!!
I’ve installed it in 2.9.1 and works fine!
Waiting for Final Release, I really can’t wait.
Thanks!
Oooh, workable with WordPress you say? I have to check this one out. 😀
the classic theme is not more supported?
I first installed the beta (using WP 2.9.1 version) and the overwrite it with the BP 1.2 RC2 and get errors in Acitivty, Forum, Groups and Members. Any ideas why?
Im not sure about this 1.2 thing! hmmmph
it works fine on my wordpress 2.9.1
@Arturo,
The classic theme is being phased out.
You can find a somewhat, updated version of it in the BP backward compatibility plugin:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-backwards-compatibility/
Just installed a fresh copy of WP 2.9.1 and BP 1.2 RC2 and it’s working like a charm.
One thing – I’m not a BP developer, so I’m not sure if that’s a bug or a (theme?) feature: clicking on “log in” in the top bar takes me to the standard WP login page and not to a themed BP login page.
Leaps and bounds ahead in beauty and simplicity — amazing – thank you very much for this excellent work!
Thank you for this new version, I am being tested and there while I was looking for a platform.
