BuddyPress 1.2.7 has just been tagged, and is ready for download! This maintenance release fixes several problems, and is an important upgrade for all BuddyPress installations. Check out the details of the 1.2.7 release at the official changelog.
Before upgrading your BuddyPress installation, make sure to back up your data and files, and deactivate BuddyPress-dependent plugins. (Or, as I like to call it, BUD. Somehow I have a feeling that won’t catch on….)
The community of BuddyPress contributors continues to grow! Huge thanks and 眉berprops go out to those who have contributed to this release cycle: andrewteg, bizybee, calvin_42, cnorris23, intimez, jond, ptahdunbar, r-a-y, swinton. If I missed your name, let me know in the comments below.
Enjoy BuddyPress 1.2.7!
Nice work chaps!! We’ll try it out now on the wordcamp.org.nz website 馃檪
Hmm also if any BuddyPress gurus out there want to help extend our new Facebook Connect Plugin so that it becomes more BuddyPress “aware” then that would be great. It currently doesn’t really care about BuddyPress… it just works.
But all ya’ll BP peeps are asking us to make it more BuddyPress aware. So if we get the ball rolling and add one or two FB fields does somebody out there want to take that on and do a full integration? Its just that BuddyPress isnt our speciality!!
Also if you could choose, would you want BP profile integration integrated into the core Facebook Connect Plugin or as a separate Plugin that works in conjunction with the Facebook Connect Plugin?!?
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-facebook-connect/
p.s. I don’t mean to hijack the post or interrupt buuuuuut…. I’m lazy and don’t know where else to go and I love WordPress… and getting mad at me would be like hurting a sleeping cat that just wants to love you!

Hey guys, I am a little new with BP, I have a new install of WP3, installed the BP plugin, and setup the network capabilities on my WordPress. I did all of the htaccess, and permalinks to %postname%, and when I try to go to the backend of the new site(subdirectory site), it says not found. The front end is found but without styles. Any ideas? This installation with the network is a good idea? I am just not real knowledgeable with BP yet. I am building a family network, and felt that WP3 with networking setup would be the way to go, with Buddy Press social abilities.
Whatcha think? http://theschraders.info/ (johnandhope/)
I am so excited to be a part of this time and age with WordPress going where it is with the networking capabilities, I would be so happy to work with someone on a project.
rohn – it’s not running WP 3.1 yet, but there’s a demo site at http://testbp.org/.

After update, my avatars and uploaded images no longer worked. I found it necessary to edit bp-core-avatars.php line 548:
$upload_dir[‘basedir’] = get_blog_option( BP_ROOT_BLOG, ‘upload_path’ );
to the old code:
$upload_dir[‘basedir’] = WP_CONTENT_DIR . ‘/blogs.dir/’ . BP_ROOT_BLOG . ‘/files/’;
to restore image uploading, resizing and saving.
Is there any ETA on the Buddypress/bbPress integration? I’ve been anxious for the end of the year for the last 5 months or so since I read this https://buddypress.org/2010/08/buddypress-and-bbpress-the-future/
Wonderful!!!!
Good job! Love the “BUD” – back up + deactivate. Big help to remember the update process.

What do you think about it? Some suggestions?
We tried to submit the link to buddypress showcase (https://wordpress.org/showcase/submit-a-wordpress-site/) but it seems impossible….
The message we receive back is <>
Cool..great buddypress..
Thats the nicest use of buddypress I’ve seen so far Paulo. Love the theme design – its all very good looking and userfriendly.
I tried to migrate my ning community (babkubwa.com) to buddy press around july last year but ended up running back to Ning – members didn’t really get the whole groups mixed up with forum thing, and I couldn’t find or adjust a theme to be clear enough. Still hoping it will be the way to go in future – just waiting for development to pick up a bit
Esse Community looks fabulous though – very inspiring.
Got a new wordpress installation at bongoflava.net going now – so maybe time to start experimenting with buddypress again. . .
I like BP 馃檪
